  1. I'm thinking about trying to telecine at home using a super 8 projector and my miniDV camera. I've seen loads of projectors on eBay that claim they are variable speed and great for video transfers. Does anyone have any advice on what my projector should have, or which models would be suitable for this? I've heard that I'll want to project at 20fps, is that right? Some of the models I've seen are the Chinon 2000 and 4000GL, Sankyo Dualux 1000 and Keystone. I realize I'll get professional results only with a professional transfer, but I'm just looking to play around right now. Also, has anyone used the transer services at moviestuff.tv or bought any of their machines? Cheers, David
  2. Thanks for the advice. I certainly won't be trying that out -- unless I have money to burn. Cheers, David
  3. I bought one of those old 16mm cameras that use the 50' magazines. A place nearby has some mags loaded with Plus X Negative film and said I could process it as reversal with their lab. Would that work? What would that look like? I've read some stuff about cross-processing reversal as negative, but not the other way around. Anyone know of a lab that will process the 50'magazines for a reasonable price and give me back the magazines? Cheers, David
  4. I'm looking to transfer some 16mm to miniDv at home. Nothing serious, just shots of my family and stuff. There's a guy on ebay who's been selling Elmo16mm projectors that he puts a 5 blade shutter on for people who want to transfer at home with their DVcam. Now, I realize that I'm going to get the most professional results by sending my film to a production house, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried this and has any comments for me. I'm not looking for perfect color, mainly as little flicker as possible. Would a projector with a 5 blade shutter work for me? Cheers, DT
