  1. i think the format itself brings in new film makers, if that makes sense. its kinda like word of mouth advertising. at least i never heard of super 8 before i got told about it. and given that super 8 is getting bigger, even with people thinking about price and so forth. so maybe kodak dont need to worry about that. or maybe kodak are cheapest. in which case it helps them

    1014 xl help

dont worry i got it. how do you delete a thread of my own?
  3. collins dicionary sais perfect - having all the essential elements perfection - the state of being perfect
  4. well thats a completely pointless statement, why change perfection. and why change if theres no reason to change. simply saying that things can survive a long time doesnt discount santos statement which i more or less agree with. you sound like an angry person. and unfortunately these days. Nothing is built to last because when it breaks, greedy old men get more money when we have to replace things that they built to break. thats the way of the future. you could say that those who still sell things that cost 10 times the price and will last 25+ years didnt evolve. cos lets face it. theres simply no market for that any more. and you dont have to start pointing out that youd buy quality over some thing else, the tiny minority who have a clue cant help. cheers for reading Tim
  5. what do i put the film in for it to be sent away and do i need to be careful about light when i take it out of the camera? is there any thing else i should knwo before i do this. im a complete noob so please tell me every thing i need to knwo no matter how obvious. cheers Tim Kirk also i should mention is tri-x reversal bw
  6. on a different note. im looking for ppl with some background with film adn super 8 in Perth Western australia who might be interested in being interviewed for my documentary (which isnt garenteed yet but its looking good. theres no massive budget so if any one is interested please let me know in this thread or pm. would be great thanks alot Tim Kirk

    1014 eyepeice

I noticed in the eye peice of the 1014e that there is a thread just on the edge on the inside for screwing some thing on to it. i was wondering what would go on there. and also when shooting with out your eye against the eye piece you have to close the eypiece to stop light going through it and onto the film. but this means that you cant see exactly what your pointing the camera at. is it possible and i doubt it but can you connect a monitor to this camera? Cheers Tim Kirk

YOUR ALL fu**ED. why the hell are you wasting your time with such a completely usless and pointless thread. what happned to a simple "good on ya" then move along. im pretty sure you all know your positions. ie - every one hates santo. and he hates every one else. so drop it. go to my thread instead :D
  11. cheers guys thats awesome. stunned that it took only three posts to change the subject but it got back. thanks again but some of you i wanted your oppnions not for you to argue amongst your selves. what about in australia? any thing happening there?
  12. as a tafe assingment i have chosen to do a documentary on 8mm filming. the theme being is it dead or alive. my research suggests that there is a future for this format. but id like any oppinions you might have about this subject. also if you have any other information or links to sites that have any history of film information that would be awesome. cheers a bundle. Tim Kirk
  13. oh yeh i know the stuff now. my school had it on walls for sound proofing. thanks skratch
  14. the silent genny would be nice but i have access to one which is probably not silent. its my mates and i can use it for free. which is preferable. i think the long cable is the way to go. i dont really like the idea of a battery for lights any way. ill just have to work a way round the noise issue if it is bad enuf cheers guys
  15. just wondering about lighting in a bushy area where we wont have access to power. is there another way to get power for lights other than a gennerator. the noise it makes could mean having to record sound after and lay it over the top of footage. which id like to avoid if possible. i thought maybe like a car baterry or some thing. but i doubt that would have enuf power to support the lights for sustained periods.its likely to be only 2 maybe 3 red heads. any ideas? Tim
  16. what im planning involves a lot of very quiet shots. ei late at night in bed sort of thing. none of the shots should go longer than even thirty seconds but i reckon. is a barney that thick bag that goes over the camera. if it is ive only seen on a 16 mm aaton. whats this egg crate foam.
  17. how would the xl go with separate sound recording as i plan to?
  18. hey guys this is my first post. i bought a 1014 xl last week just waiting for it to be serviced and get it back in about 2 weeks. important to note is that you cant get xls film any more (unless im wrong) so the audio recording stuff is more or less useless. the variable shutter is cool on the xls. i have no idea what an intervalometer is but....
