  1. Have to light up a personal library room within a main house as part of a project. As a reference I was reminded of the opening sequence in the movie ?Red Dragon? starring Anthony Hopkins & Edward Norton. Where both are seated in Hopkins library. Is an excellent scene, with the faces and the upper torsos of the both the actors lit just to the right level. Have tried to break down and understand the lighting in that sequence in a study to understand how they achieved what they have in that opening sequence. From what I gathered, in terms of lighting sources for that scene, there is a lamp on the study table which throws light on the 2 characters mainly chest level and below. Both their faces are quite clear other wise as well and it becomes clearer on close ups as well, but not overtly bright. In terms of other lighting, there seems to some light source opposite Hopkins, as evident from the mild shadow it?s created behind the actor on the wall of the study. There is also some moderately powered lighting outside the window that creates a night & street lamps effect, when viewed from indoors. For the pros that have seen the movie, what else could one figure in terms of the lighting plot for that sequence. Any help & advise would be greatly appreciated..
