Hey John, Liked your video using the 200t. I am getting ready to shoot a video with the exact same setup. A Nizo 801 macro (i will also be using a canon 814) and 200t as my film of choice. If you have time could you give me any helpful advice from your experience with this combo. thanks for your time, Nate

I have read a few things on this, I have a few questions for anyone that would know or point me to a good source. If the cameras gate is widened to take advantage of the whole frame would most transfer houses even see the extra space used on the film frame when its transferred? if not is there a place that might handle this specifically? also, does anyone know of a place that handles this camera mod that is reputable? anyone done this to a camera? thanks for any help.

I have started reading a bit already and I am finding a lot of it interesting. Is it possible in the super 8 realm (i guess with fixed lens cameras like canon and nizo which are both fixed) to defeat everything being in focus? i guess i ll find out sooner than later as I read and understand.

I have seen the 99 problems video once, the only thing I remember is that it was very good. Yes I definitely wanted to avoid the dogs barking at girls in bikinis or anything remotely close to that. the band is kind of anti-rap-bling to the core so making something lo fi was the only way to go. I shot the whole thing using a super 8 canon 814xls. I used plus x and shot everything outdoors. Not really having edited or shot any film before I am really encouraged that some of you experienced guys find it at least interesting. I am a musician by trade, and now have a secret itch to go further down this road. Once again thanks for taking the time to give feedback it really does make a difference for the beginner. also what does "deep focus photography" mean? still just learning.

Thanks, it was just me and a freind holding the boombox. We shot 15 rolls all plus-x reversal at 24 fps.

thanks for all the great insight. I had the film transfered here in atlanta at cinepost. A few (when I say a few I mean like two really short clips) were transfered here at the crib off a condenser lens. Yeah I shot pretty much all of it with my canon 814 xls. It was a experiment from the beginning to see if I would enjoy super 8 and filmaking enough to really go further with it. I have to say I am hooked and I want to learn some real techniques now. thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

the 801 isnt considered to be in the compact series so that's good news.

anyone know for sure if the nizo 801 exsposes 64t properly in auto expose?

I decided today that im gonna definitely shoot a test roll to see what i am in for. If it goes well i want to use it for a music video I am working on. I think this option could be perfect for the song, depending on how it looks for super 8. I'll post some frames when I get the film back. meanwhile there has to be someone out there that has done this and has a few flicks.

I dont know, when I hear these kind of discussions I tend to think that the point is moot. I am brand spanking new to film. But I am not new to art. I have been artist/musician for 20 years and in the music business 10plus. if there is one thing that I have learned is that the tool has little (relatively speaking) to do with the final outcome. I am all for the best most perfect tool but lets not forget what drives the art. my favorite record was recorded in 1936, way before multi-track and 2 inch tape and protools and anything that would distinguish a "pro" user from "novice". I guess what I am getting at is pick a tool and make art, in the end you have what you have. learn it master it, if you can make a masterpiece with junk then you can make one with anything. canon, Beauleiu, Leicina they all take cood enough pictures to make good art.

does anyone have a clip of trying this? cross processing 64t as negative. I know forde labs will do it and I am considering experimenting with this and have only seen 16 and 35 and still versions of it. I guess if there are no clip examples just hearing from someone who has experience with this would be great. I searched the board and found a lot of people that were considering doing this or just talking about it. Any specific advice would be great.

I am assuming the cca switch on the camera is the 85 filter. the manual describes it as exactly what a 85 filter is supposed to do, so thanks for the heads up. so in to sum up, use a 4x ND filter and make sure the 85 filter is set to compensate for the tungsten balance. if i missed anything let me know. thanks again for all the great direction.

thanks for the advice, great to hear. I will be using the internal meter for metering. will the 200t being tungsten balanced factor into the look of the final quality of the film. will the color be off do I need to compensate for this?

I am shooting a music video for a friend and would like to shoot it on vision2 stock to be telecined later (I am using a canon 814xls). About 80 percent of it will be outdoors, will 200t be usable for those shots or should I get lower asa vision stock from a 3rd party other from kodak? The main reason i wanted to use the 200t is the cost for students from kodak is only 10.60 per cart and forde proccesing at 13.00 bucks a roll, totaling 23.00 a roll. a considerable savings from the cost at pro8 or spectra around 32-35. However I am willing to bite the bullet for the extra cost if it is too tricky to shoot 200t outdoors. also a seperate question, could someone explain or point me to explanation and breakdown of cross processing, I know the basics but am still fuzzy about what stocks, and what process etc.. thanks for any help on either of these questions.

I am shooting some plus-X and I want to get as much contrast as possible, everything will be shot outdoors. I know there are limitations to how much is possible with plus-X but any tips on this would be excellent. I am using a 814xls. Thanks for helping.
