  1. Okay a rather silly question that I'm trying to confirm. I've worked with various frames from 6x to 20x, but never actually measured the frame itself. Depending on the size there usually seems to be a bit of a gap (1" or so) between the rag itself and the frame tubing. Generally speak though are the frames themselves true lengths of the size? Like 6x6 would measure across the outside of the frame at 72 inches, etc? I just picked up some tubing to make a 6x and 8x frame and want to confirm before I start cutting anything. I don't want order rags and find out they're too wide to tie. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks for the info. I had a feeling that it wouldn't work. The site deals mostly with used still photography equipment, but they have a page with some cameras and lenses, but I'm assuming they're not as well versed in the ins and outs of the arri stuff. I've emailed a couple of guys in my area to find a place to rent some PL's, but haven't had any luck yet.
  3. Okay I recently picked up a used Brevis 35mm lens adapter for my HDV camera. The adapter came with a nikon mount and also has a PL mount. I've used Nikon and Canon SLR lenses with my adapter. I wasn't really planning on trying PL lenses, but since I got a good deal on the adapter with the mount, now I've been contemplating getting a PL lens or two. Looking around I happened to find a local place (Cleveland) that has some lenses. One is a Arriflex Angenieux 12-120/2.2 listed as a type 10x12B. I emailed the place and got a reply that it is an arri standard mount and that it will cover 35mm. I know I would have to then buy a PL adapter to mount it on my Brevis. My first question is, can anyone confirm that the lens would cover 35mm therefore work with my Brevis? I couldn't find much info online about the lens, but the little that I did all mentioned it for 16mm cameras. Also is there any reason why an arri standard to PL adapter would not work to adapt that lens to the PL mount Brevis? Last question and I know there's factors involved, but what would be a decent price on one of these lenses in good condition?
  4. Well I've picked up a couple of lights, but still looking.
  5. I'm finally looking to upgrade from some crappy lighting gear I've been using. Instead of buy some of the cheaper off brand lights that last a shoot or two then fall apart (all I can afford right now), I'd like to find some older lights that might need some TLC. Looking for any brand of continuous focusable lights ideally with fresnel, but would also consider open faces. Mostly looking in the 500 to 1000 watt range, but would consider anything up to maybe 2k. As long as they can be spotted/flooded or controlled with barn doors... and are pretty cheap, then I'm interested. I'm in Ohio so more than likely would involve shipping. Also would like to get some used c stands as well, although I know shipping those won't be cheap. Please let me know if you might have any old light taking up space.
  6. I gotta second that one. That was a horrible piece of garbage. I expecially loved the cheesy song during the love scene. And Tara Reid as a scientist, how can you go wrong there? I forget the exact line she says at one point, but I think it's when she says 'Newfoundland' but pronounces it New Found Land like it's 3 words or something. Actually anything that Uwe Boll does is pretty much a joke in my book. It's a toss up between Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead. My favorite parts in House of the Dead is the dolly shot that reveals the end of the track of the jumping zombie and you can see the swing board things. Also the bullet time shots apparently were done at a different time because they suddenly all had different weapons and clothes.
  7. Looking to find a super 8 camera or two. I'm planning on having the gate widened to shoot super duper 8 (aka ultra 8). If it works well I'll prob. get the sync mod done by The Film Group, so because of that I'd like to find one of the models that The Film Group works on. Here's a list, albeit a short one, of models that would work. I'd like to find something cheap since it's going to be modified, but let me know what you guys have that you want to part with. Here's the list, thanks for looking. NIZO S56, S80, S480, S481, S560, S561, S800, S800P, S801, 1048, 2056, 6056, 4080, 6080 NIKON R8, R10 BEAULIEU 2008, 4008, 4008ZM, 4008ZM2, 4008ZM3, 4008ZM4, 3008S, 5008S, 6008S, 7008S FUJICA ZC1000 CANON 814XL-S, 1014XL-S, Zoom DS8 ELMO 612S-XL, 1012S-XL MINOLTA D-12 CHINON 12SMR, 200/8XL, 200/12XL, 506SMXL
  8. Hi. I just joined the boards and am learning quite alot. I have 2 Beaulieu 4008's. Neither have batteries, but I have the socket adapter for external batteries. I have all the stuff to make some external packs, but before I get them wired up I need to figure out which of the pins inside the camera socket are which. I took a picture of the socket and labeled it. Could anyone tell me which is the 7.2v pin, the 3.6v, and the negative? Thanks in advance.
