I'm currently looking into buying the V1U, predominately for documentary and live concert filming, i was wondering if anyone with experience of using this camera in those situations could give me their opinion on how it handles, in particular i'm concerned about low light levels. -Laura

i'm a 3rd cinematography specialist at surrey, and i'm pretty sure you only need 1 a level to apply, i think a lot of whether you get in is judged on show reel. i cant be sure because it was a while ago, and i did their foundation course too so i never had to go the ucas route for my degree. but it might be worth you enquiring directly to the university about it. it is a really excellent degree, and our cinematography tutors are awesome.

if you don't mind me asking which canon camera's did you test? and what elements in them did you find superior.

i'm glad there is a topic on this camera. i'm looking into buying it myself in feb, i was considering the Z1 before i found out about the V1U, could anyone tell me how it compairs to the Z1? i'm also curious as to how well it handles low-light situations as i'll be using it for concert filming some of the time.

i just thought i'd throw my 2 cents in, i was so glad to see major b's post, there seems to be so much negativity here about uk film schools. i'm at the surrey institute of art and design studying film and video and i absolutely love it. its a great enviroment and its good to be around other art students, i think it gives it a nice creative atmosphere. i think our teachers are absolutly wonderful, im about to embark on the kodak student commerical competition and they have been very supportive. we also just had our billy williams master class which was an excellent opportunity to have. no course is perfect and no course is going to get you a job just because you've done that course (it really is who you know), but personally i am there simply to learn, be creative, and have a damn good time doing it. oh and i dont want to see any replies to this preaching about how i'm going to have no money and no job because i go to school in the u.k, iv read it in other threads and i really dont care about other people's negative opinions of my university choice.
