  3. Selling my Arriflex 16 BL EQ. It is in Cheshire, UK. Feel free to ask any questions. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221480012667?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  4. The film is on a standard plastic core not a collapsible one.
  5. Hello all, I have recently finished shooting my first short film on film. I've shot two magazines worth of film, 800 foot in total. I was just trying to unload the film, i was in total darkness, but i'm finding it rather hard to get out. I'm being careful because i don't want to pull it off the spool. I was wondering if anyone has some tips for unloading film out of Arri 16bl magazines? Thank you.
  6. Hello, I have about 20 mins of reversal 16mm. I was just wondering if having reversal film telecined is ever a problem? I know it shouldn't be but just because negative is the standard maybe some places don't do it. I've only ever edited tradtionally but i want to try it on the computer because it would make arranging the sound a lot easier. The only thing i have ever had telecined is some old 8mm kodachrome 40 which is reversal. I have read something about having negatives prepared for telecine, I don't know what this means which is why i thought reversal might cause problems. Could someone de-confuse me please? Thank you.
  7. Does it have to be super 16. If you aren't going to project it you could shoot regular 16 then crop it. you would then have a lot more cameras to choose from. But maybe you are going to project it. It is possible for an Aaton ltr 54 to be converted to super 16, that would be a pretty good choice if you can't afford an Arri sr. Personally, if it is an amateur film i would shoot regular 16.
  8. oh yes, i know which is the play head. I meant where abouts exactly on the head as the head is about 1cm in width. Thanks
  9. What about all the shots with digital effects in? Digital effects must have been around for about 15 years now. These must be printed to film somehow?
  10. Also if you have you're film telecined and edit it that way, you will then need to have it printed back to film again if you want to project it. I can't believe that this process would not lose a great deal of the original quality of the film. I know a lot of modern films do this, so it must be alright, but it is the major issue that concerns me about editing on a computer. You could edit on a computer using you're telecined film, then using that as a reference, cut the original negatives by hand. It's also much easier to sync up sound using a computer. Actually, i have a question about that. If a film is to be printed from a digital file, what sort of format is it sent to the lab in, and how do they deal with the sound?
  11. Hello, When finding the sounds to be synced up to the image on magnetic tape i run the tape very slowly until i find the sound of the clapper board or some point of reference to sync to the image. I just have a small question which is, where exactly on the playhead is the sound picked up, so i know exactly where to mark the tape. Is it right in the center of the playhead? Thank you.
  12. Thanks Clive, I did read your essay. I had a feeling it might be to do with being played back on the same machine. How about this idea; I record the sound on the uher then playback the sound from the uher onto a computer. then send that file to mag transfer? Or even edit on the computer aswell then send to mag transfer.
  13. I did a test today with the uher and a video camera for the image. It stayed in sync well for about a minute and a half and was ok up to about two and a half minutes. This was when played back on the uher though, i was thinking that somehow the sound may become more out of sync after the mag transfer. Would this be the case? If not i'm going to go for it. No computers.
