  1. Hi! What can you tell me about this set of lenses? Cause Im probably shooting a feature film, and would like to try them. Another doubt: In the rental they have 28 35 45 55 65 80 110 140. As Im shooting in anamorphic eith alexa XT, the 28 equals a 14mm UP? and so on each lense? So the 140 is 70 mm? How is the comparision with a normal set of ultraprime or Cooke s4? ANd another doubt, as I need a 200mm or a 300mm, wich brand do you recommend to match as more as posible to the resolution and quality of the Hawks? DO you think an optimo 24-290 Is ok?
  2. Hi! When using flashes/strobos with epic or alexa or "X" camera, there is a moment when you see the flash, you don't see the flash, or you have a middle straight tinny or "ugly" line of the flash in the frame. Even if you try changing the frequence of the flash you have this problem. We know that is cause of the shutter and the freq of the flash ... Is there any solution about this? Some equipment that synchronize the flash with the camera?

Well, finally, we did we get on wel with the car... here is a photo of the set up... https://instagram.com/p/8PNICnxfam/?taken-by=movimatt The only problem I found are reflection on the windows as Brian said above.. And, as the car is white you really don't have real issues with reflections... Also when we shot the final pack at sunset, with the sun inside the frame, I was exposing to the sun cause as the car is white, it was never underexposed or to dark... si that was a benefit... On the other hand, the car when shooting outdoors was allways white with hardly no reflections... When the commercial is online I will paste the link for you to see!! Thank you all!!
  4. Impossible to change color... jeje.. well, Ive seen some commercials where the car is white and it doesn't seem so terrible as I thought... Despite I won't have a cool pack shot...
  5. Hi! Im shooting mi first car commercial and the client wants the 4x4 Renault white, and there is no chance to chage the color to a darker one. Im shooting indoor and outdoor. Which problems do you think I will find? Cause I know darker cars are better to have for ex, the sunset/dawn reflection of the sky on it's side and with a white car I think I won't... Also I'm shooting the car indoor in a kind of garage. Any recomendation?
  6. Hi! Im shooting mi first car commercial as DoP. Its a 4x4 Renault which the client wants to be a white car! I have to shoot in a parking lot indoor at night and daylight in an airport . Any recommendations? Which problems do you think I will find?

  8. Hi, what is the difference when working with Alexa in 180 ir in 360 degrees? I know that I gain 1 stop of light, so for me that's worth ... but what relly happens with the action? When paning fast y sense kind of video image... What are your sense?
  9. The thing is that we are deciding which camera use for a feature film . The vfx team are asking to go with Epic becasuse of its 5K . The movie has a lot of VFX . Last year they compared epic 5k and alexa logC , and they say its better the 5k of the epic . The thing is I would like to know if the raw of the ALexa plus its aproxametely the same as 5k epic or 6k drgaon . Cause someone told me , Alexa's raw is 3.5K and Epic's 5K is not really 5K ...
  10. If you need to choose a camera not for its "cinematography visual quality" , but for its posibilities when shooting a person in green screen . Which is the best? The raw of the Alexa or the 6K of the Epic? And If you need to crop an image?

  12. Hi ! .. I'm shooting this summer (southamerica) a production on a budget, with Epic & scarlet ... I'm planning to use the HDR process in camera so I can get a natural image , cause we are shooting at midday and need to be fast . I have some doubts , for example what happens with action scenes , fast pans, water-cascade, backlight sun , sun reflections, problems with the hdr, etc ... I was trying to find in several pages ( here, vimeo, youtube , etc ) more info of this process, but I can't find a very specific info ... somebody uses this process often ? or nobody uses it nowadays? Thanks !

  15. Hi ... i'm shooting my first comercial with Phantom Gold, cause the Flex is not avaliable . Which real sensibility is the gold at 25 fps ? Cause a friend told me that running at 300 fps the camera doesn't even reach 50 ASA .. And I never shot with a 20 Kw fresnell .. Do you know , aprox... , If I shoot at 600 fps, at which distance , should I put a 20k source without difussion?

  18. Hi I'm shooting in 10 days comercial in a futbol stadium . We are planning to support our light with the HQI Lamps from the stadium . Does somebody knows the color temperature? Or if they are more blueish or greener?

  22. Hi ! Im shooting in 3 weeks , a movie trailer, for a production company . The story develops in a forest near a mountain . Its an adventure film for kids between 10 and 18 more or less like a The Goonies mix with some Harry potter . There will be a lot of CGI to create volcanoes, eagles, witches, monsters, etc . I need to show some references to the director for us to storyboard the takes for the shooting. I thought in films like, harry potter, lord of the rings, twilight, the village ... I need some names of films shot in the woods .. Can you help me ? thanks !
