  1. Thanks a lot Phil, very useful to know that 'Master of None' is 2.39 ! Will see if there are more examples.
  2. Hello everybody, Are there any US TV Dramas broadcast in 2.39 : 1 aspect ratio ? I know 2 : 1 is becoming more popular, but are there any examples of 2.39 ? Thank you very much !
  3. Thanks a lot guys ! Miles, that set had a number of fluorescent tubes behind the diffusion pannels. In groups of six they could be individually switched on/off. This was wired to a manual switchboard, so to get the effect of the ceiling lighting up back to front two or three people would trigger the switches manually in the order we wanted. Graham, yes that MoCo shot was great fun, although done in quite a rush (about 4hrs) plus sometimes fighting a bit of rain. MoCo is fantastic and can be used for storytelling in very interesting and creative ways I think. Have fun with your shots ! :-)
  4. Hi there, Would appreciate feedback on shot selection, pacing and editing of my new showreel montage. This includes shots from features, TV Drama, commercials and music videos. Here is the link: http://www.felixwiedemann.com/en/player.php?file=ReelMontage-2012-21-Web01.f4v Thank you very much ! All the best, Felix
  5. Great Reel ! Very strong shots and atmospheres ! The only shots you might want to think about taking out maybe are the popcorn, and the stuff in the theatre. Also it feels like you are coming back to the supermarket a bit too often. Overall fantastic stuff though !
  6. Sorry for this rather boring question. I am going to shoot abroad, so for the first time I am taking my light meter on a flight. I just wanted to double check that the X-Raying or whatever they do to the luggage at security checks doesn't mess up the sensor of the lightmeter ? Does it need recalibrating afterwards ? I have the Sekonik 758 Cine and I was planning to take the meter in my handluggage. To make this thread slightly more interesting : Does anyone know how a lightmeter actually works in terms of physics ? Thank you very much !
  7. Hey Xiao, The stills look fantastic ! What kind of generator did you use ? Good luck with the rest of the shoot. Felix
  8. Sorry for asking a question that I could easily find out by testing, but perhaps someone already has experience with this and I don't have much time to work this out. So far I have mostly used a sinlge light only to go through diffusion frames. In this particular case I will need more stop than I get out of say a 10K through an 8x8 diffusion frame. A bigger lamp is not an option in this case, but I have access to more 10Ks. So my question is: Will two 10Ks (both filling the 8x8 frame) give me substantially more stop that one 10K, perhaps even comparable to a 20K ? What about 3 or 4 10Ks:-) Thanks a lot !
  9. Hi, I would appreciate any feedback, critique and suggestions on my new showreel montage: http://www.felixwiedemann.com/showreel_eng.html [please click on first clip called Montage March 2009] Please let me know your thoughts, especially on shot selection on pacing. Thank you very much ! All the best, Felix
  10. Thank you very much for your helpful answers Kristian and Danish. That lens calculator is perfect for my needs. I will just print out the relevant lists and then I know the field of view relations between my DSLR and the format I am shooting on. Thanks !
  11. Hello, I am trying to set up a Digital SLR system (Camera/Lenses) with the field of view matching 35mm movie cameras/lenses. Ideally I would like to use the camera on Recces almost like a Tewie/Pentafinder. In other words: if on a recce I take a photo with a 50mm lens on my DSLR, will I be able to recreate that frame (field of view) on the shoot with my 50mm lens on a 35mm movie camera in the same camera position ? Of course the aspect ratio comes into play. But I guess I could just find a system that matches the horizontal field of view and then crop my DSLR images top & bottom according to the aspect ratio we use on the film. My thinking was that it probably only depends on the size of the CMOS-sensor matching the size of the 35mm negative. So if I find a a full frame DSLR with a sensor-size 35mmx23mm, then I should be able to achieve the same field of view as on a 35mm movie camera ? Any thoughts ? Thank you very much ! Felix
  12. Hello ! I have a website ready to go online, but my webmaster and me struggle to get the right settings so that the quicktime showreel already starts playing while it is loading (shown in a grey bar below the picture). How do you guys do it ? On every website I see it works. On mine the video won't start playing before the whole video is loaded. I have encoded with H264 and in my render options I selected "Prepare for streaming: Quickstart". Someone told me that I would need a streaming server but looking into the source code of other websites it seems that they don't have streaming servers either. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much ! All the best, Felix
  13. You are right! I didn't think of that. Sorry, didn't want to be unfair. Thanks a lot for your answer though. Sounds like the workshop will be fun ! Best wishes, Felix
