FOR SALE - Eclair NPR parts
!Buyer pays shipping on all items!
ECLAIR NPR body #1555
?Variable shutter 15-180 degrees.
?Lateral pressure shoe and registration pin.
?Two lens turret: Arri B mount and C mount.
Includes lens port caps (Arri B and C mounts), viewfinder cover (original metal
cap), gate cover, and extra bottom plate to cover motor coupling when motor is
disconnected. This camera needs a complete overhaul. Optical Electro House quoted me
$900 after George Zorzoli inspected the camera in his shop. Ground glass has
markings for 1.33 full frame only, no TV pumpkin, no cross hairs. This is a somewhat
rare camera in the States, as I've seen dozens of NPRs and not one without the TV
pumpkin on the ground glass, or an Arri B mount, and this camera has both. This NPR
is well worth the overhaul.
$600
ANGENIEUX Orientable Viewfinder for NPR #1055
This comes with metal cap to protect threads/glass, and Arri rubber eyecup. This eyepiece
is in excellent condition and makes your NPR into a new camera.
$650
AATON ALCAN motor 24/25fps, and variable speed 5-32fps. Very good
condition. This motor shutter parks in the viewing position, lowers the NPR's height
by three inches, and lowers its weight by approximately four to five pounds.

I thought I'd post another person's findings after they contacted AZ Spectrum.
Andrew can do speed modifications to the Alcan for $900. If you are familiar with Andrew's work then you know it's good, and this is a decent price for having variable speeds on a motor that makes the NPR a wonderful camera to operate.

What is your opinion on the Kodak Analyst, Alain?
Best regards,
Ken Hale
I can't recall having studied an Analyst closely for steadiness at 24fps projection.
I have a friend in Van BC who has two that he uses for dual projector performances, but it's mainly
to slow things down.
I would imagine it is as steady as a Kodak Pageant, which can be laterally steady, thanks to well designed guide rails, but vertically it can develop play requiring the claw pitch to be adjusted. Lamp
and optics are the limitation of the Pageant, otherwise the movement is very good, very easy on film.

Does this one have variable speed and running for eclair NPR?
Could I DIY to set it up?
This motor is NOT variable speed. It is 24 and 25 fps crystal speeds only.
Talk to Andrew at AZ Spectrum to determine if you can have the motor modifying to run variable speeds.

Hello Nathan,
We just started using a Lafayette analytical projector, and it works great.
Real steady.
Ken Hale
Ken,
Is Lafayette a Kodak Analyst projector with a Lafayette nameplate?

I left out another option....
Eiki EX-4000 was intermittant and a manual threader. I've seen some coming up on eBay lately.

but if it seems that using the smaller prime lenses will offer better image/lower fstops
is it worth the extra money for the sbm if I'll just find myself putting on a c mount adapter
most of the time anyway?
I use to just leave the C mount adapter on my SBM, then covered the lens port with a C mount cap.
-Alain

Yeah, I'm sure they would charge a premium for a custom made bag. Those best boy bags look really nice, but it also looks as though they're made of Nylon? Just out of curiosity, why are you going with canvas?
Because canvas is king?
I like the idea of buying a cotton canvas bag over nylon (even if cotton is one of the more heavily sprayed crops), and I find the material holds up
rather well. I have a riggers bag for tools (tons of pockets) which cost me I think $20, and a large LL Bean tote for all my rawstock, film cans, black
bags, extra camera cores, changing bag, and mag barney, and the white color is good for reflecting light/heat.
I've been using a nylon Lowe Pro bag that someone gave me, and while it works ok if I'm working out of a car I hate moving around with the thing. Not
very well designed if you ask me. I used to own a Domke F2 and always loved that bag, so I was wondering if anyone knew of bags similar to this. I think
I'll end up getting an F1X to suit my needs.
-Alain

Hey Alain,
I think you might have me mistaken on the Series 9's. I think the Domke might be your best bet- the only thing I have been able to find online are the standard canvas tool bags that you would find at any hardware store, which are obviously a much different bag than the Domke. Good luck in your search! For reference, there is a place on 23rd and Clinton if I recall called "Beckels Canvas" who might be able to custom make one, or modify your bag. I can't say for sure that they would do this, but I do know that they make canvas bags and tents and things like that. Might be worth checking out:
Beckel Canvas Products

Yes, I have one of those "riggers bags" for my tools. They are great for hauling tools, but I'd like a bag that has a lid and a bit of padding for some protection. Beckel makes nice bags, I have a number of small canvas bags from them that I use for lighting clamps and such. Good suggestion about having them make one, however it seems that it would likely cost more than a Domke.

-
Thanks Patrick...
I didn't know this company existed. I find the bags a little large, and expensive, and I will never understand why AC bags have to be black or dark blue.... not great colors for sitting out in the sun. At least Cinebags makes gray ones, but then they are still so large.... And BTW I'm looking for CANVAS not nylon.
I'll probably stick with the Domke, I just wish it was larger.
I seem to recall I was going to get some series 9 retaining rings from you, at least
I think that was you? Do you still have those rings? If so, let me know when you'll be in SE as I around
my studio most days, esp in the mornings.
-Alain
-
Can anyone recommend a canvas ditty bag that is similar in style to the Domke F-1X, but slightly
larger? I like the domke's top flap/lid and pocket design, but think the bag is a little small for my needs.
