  1. Ok... DVfilm quoted $40.00/minute for 35mm print - print... That cam out to about $3,600.00 for a 90 minute feature. I was wishing there was some place cheaper than this.... But, my wish may not come true :( Thanks Phil!
  2. Who does 35mm Master - 35mm Release print printing? And does anyone have an esitmate on what each release print would cost? Later dudes, Landon
  3. Digital Betacam, Has a very good resolution. And it looks even better when the CCD is 16:9 and not 4:3. and still better when it has 24p. (I don't know of any Betacams with 24p) But still, Betcam has like 520,000 pixels compared to the 2.2 Million on the Sony cameras. Also the compression is higher. However, if your just viewing it on a HD monitor, compression never seems to appear visible to me. And anything over DVCAM resolutiion will look "Good"... But HD will always look "Better" just because of the Added Resolution and Compression. A good camera is the SDX-900.... DVC PRO 50... which has near betacam compression specs. And a lot of the higher end SD cameras have just as much "Filmlook" in camera effects as the HD cameras. Just my $0.02

In video mode, you can output the signal in 1080p @ 16:9.... That is what is on the site anyway.
  5. Why not just use the XL1 to transfer it to the computer? They have firewire.
  6. Well, my stat page says it's 10:28pm... when in fact, it's 1:28am. I Don't see anywhere that it states the users actual time zone. only Date and Time.
  7. How could IMAX use another Journey Into Amazing Caves? I love caves! (Being a caver myself) I can see it now: the IMAX Experiance Presents: AMERICAN HIDDEN UNDERGROUND a Landon Parks Film *Playing on 1 imax screen, cause thats all he could afford  I have a great relation ship with cave owners and access to plenty of americas best caves :-) Now all I need is money.... hand it over!!!! Any Backers? lol  Notice some of the jokes in this post... thought i'dbe funny for a change
  8. Yes... it has. and I will admit, it has sure answered a lot of my questions about the IMAX formate. Now I'm so excited about it, I wanna go out and make an IMAX film  Anyone got any money? The distrobution process is what boggles me. I mean, if only 25% of IMAX films are distrobuted by IMAX themselves, then the rest would mean the production company (Or other distrobuter) would have to pay for the Release Print's, ect. Seems like a fun thing to shoot in, but very confusing and expensive (Although, not as expensive as what I figure my Feature would cost to make). If I figure right, IMAX film will cost $386.00/min in stock alone!!!! wow... Soemone on another artical said film was about $1.15/foot and theres 336' in a minute, that comes to $386.00! So an hour would cost you $23,160.00!
  9. Nice looking Camera. Although, Looks are not everything! (They need 24p)
  10. Visit: http://www.yahoo.com and type in "High Defintion Video". Im sure you will find more than you need on the HD medium. also, look around in the HD section of this forum! IT does answer a lot of questions, such as What HD Resolution is, Film V. HD, dynamic range, ect... Just look around. thats what the internet is for. to "budakfah": I don't mean anything by this question... But are you from the United States?
  11. Yes I must admit.... thank god for the internet... and of course the members of this forum.
  12. I had heard somewhere that he disigned his own around the HDC's... You done somthing to the lense that made it put less stress on the eyes when watching also. Not sure what its called... I know Robert used the same 3d cameras on Spy Kids 3D.
  13. Does anyone know what cameras James used on Ghost of the abyss? That was 3D HD right?
  14. Thank you David... I really like the look of the new IWERKS camera compared to the MKII  That one Camera, the "Biclops" is some camera :o .... sorta BIG
  15. Any idea where I can get info on this MSM Camera? This IMAX stuff is pretty interesting B) ... I just found a cool manual... the IMAX filmmakers guide! www.imax.com/corporate/pdfs/filmmaker.pdf
  16. Yes it all makes since now. IMAX film is really just 65mm film pulled horizontally instead of vertical through the camera... and instead of 5-perf it pulls 15-perf for each new frame. That makes since...
  17. Thats cool... But how much is 65mm film per foot? I take it you mean that shootinh IMAX would cost 3 x as much as shooting 65mm in 24fps? (As fare as film stock) And also, IMAX captures film @ like 48 fps don't it? Something to do with making the image cleaner with less strobe? So, for standard motion, you would need to shot 48fps.. Am I correct? Also, I have always heard that IMAX cameras weighed about 250lbs? But on the PDF for the MKII it says Body /w lense and 1,000' mag is only 68lbs? And I have alread heard you had to mount it on some kind of support stand where the camera hung under the Support unit? But it clearly shows the camera on a simple tripod in the PDF. Im confused....
  18. Ok, So I'll just sit here like a good little boy and ask questions all day. Yeah, that sounds like a plan! No. I am a member of this forum not only to ask questions, but to provide answers for things that I know, or think I know. Anf If I get them wronge, feel free to answer the question the right way, without badgering me all the time! Until there is a law against me anwering questions.... Then I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. you know, believe it or not, I do know some about Cinematography. I have read books, watched videos, and have experiance as a photographer. P.S) I dont mean to offend any one by this post. Im just trying to say that I think I should be allowed to answer the question if I think I know the answer. I do thank everyone here for all the help they have been in aswering my questions. So, I dont think this is a topic about how landon is wronge. So just answer his question if I was wronge. Don't worry about me. I'll survive.
  19. i did properly anser the question!!!! was i wronge???????????/
  20. IMAX technology has amazed me for many years. And I have always had questions about the IMAX film... So here goes: 1. How much does IMAX Film cost? 2. What is the average shooting ratio of a IMAX film? 3. What labs can actually handle this formate? 4. What is the cost of processing film of this type? 5. How do they edit the formate? Is there a Telecine and/or printer capable of handling this type of film? 6. Are the cameras really as heavy and loud as everyone claims???? Becuase they dont look all that big at all  . 7. What is the aspect ratio of the film? That has always been a wonder of mine  8. How much do those 15/70 2d and 3d camera cost to rent? 9. and also, how is it they can take HD shoot stuff (Star wars 2) and project it onto a screen that is 8 storys high? I never seen it, but Did it actually look good? I know that seems like a lot of questions, and Im sure some of you dont know much about IMAX film. But I was hoping someone in here could answer these so I could quit wondering about them  I know they cant have to much money tied up in there productions, becuase they really Dont make that much money off of them. Now, not that I have an intention of ever shooting with this formate... I was just wanted to ask these questions, as they have been bothering me for a long time.
  21. lol... Hand crank huh? Now I;v seen everything! Would someone care to explain to me how a handcrank on a digital camera works? <_<
  22. Is it just me... or does that camera look REALLY WEIRD? Oh well. I guess as long as it serves it purpose....
