  1. While watching Mike Rowe on The Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs the other day, I noticed that one of their cameras is the HVR-Z1U. I also noticed, they actually showed it in close-up, that they have a filter or at least a piece of glass on the front of the lens hood. Since the hood over the lens has that shutter in it, having a glass cover outside of that sounds like a good idea. Anybody have any idea how they (the Discovery Channel crew) did that? Think they cut down a larger rectangular filter? I don't shoot in the dirt like they do, but wiping dust or crud off a glass in front, and keeping that same crud from getting in the lens hood mechanism sounds smart. I do already have a Tiffen UV filter over the lens. It just barely allowed the hood to be re-attached. franklin
