  1. As I said in an earlier post (maybe in the wrong forum? sorry Newbie) this is a really, really beautifully photographed film. The best I ever seen at the lab I work at. But I should have mentioned, I have never seen it with sound. I hear that, that part is not so strong. If you know what I mean. Anyway I heard at the lab that there is a special screening of the film next week, but its only for ASC members. If there are any nice ASC members who would like to give their ticket to a young aspiring cinematographer it would be really appreciated. Tom Hope
  2. I work in a lab, and I saw a film Steven Bernstein shot in india, called "One Night With The King," or something like that. It looked really good, lots of torch light and rich colors. I asked him how he did it, and he didn't seem that interested in talking so maybe he was joking with me, but he said he underexposed high speed Kodak a couple of stops, and used just torches to create the look. I was taught you were supposed to overexpose negative and print down to get rich blacks. Why does his film look so good? In a respectful way, is he lieing? I saw "Monster" which he shot, and that was really grainy. This wasn't. How come?
