I'm dubbing audio onto a super 8mm film. The voices are sounding too canned. I didn't use any thing on the walls and it was done in an office. The voices sound like they are too clean and up close. I've heard two people say this is called "too live." I'm using adobe premier and it has audio effects. Does anyone know if adobe can correct the sound a biut to make it sound more like it is on location?

this can be done while the car is in motion. Shoot all the driver's dialogue by duct taping the camera in the passenger's side window and run a mic above the driver. Then for the passenger's take duct tape a camera in the driver's side window and run a mic above passenger. use Thelittle lapel mic. And you can just hand hold the camera in the back seat for other shots. Gte soem cut aways- b roll from where ever.

Hello everyone, sorry it's been a while. I got good news and bad. I'm thinking of ditching the 16mm idea for the feature and going hd. I got the bell and howell film0 and it will do 24 fps with the motor for up to 5 minutes. I cna use the 400 foot magazines- and do the things i want with the three lenses. but after shooting a test I sent it to a local production company to transfer it. The processing came out fine. They transfer people took two months and still did not get it done. I gave it to them before the christmas holidays. But after three attempts to getting it done and even pre-paying i went and got the film back. Just looking at the frames they looked fine but i wanted to see it on the mini dv and put it in the computer. Anyway, i still haven't got my refund. I wnated to use local businesses but figure going 16mm i will have to go out of state. during this time messing with the 16mm our legislature passed a bill that will allow production companies in Mississippi to get 20 percent back on any money spent in state when the production is finished. So that and the fact that no place nearby can be trustred (no fault of their own, film is just not the big around here) I may go with hd. I'm looking at a sony fx7 hdr. I ordered it thursday night from dell and have to talk to a dell guy tomorrow to confirm the order. I don't think i'll back out, but I'm still a little bit unsure. The sony fx7 is about all a can afford. And it is hd and can be shot in standard video too. "Ghoul Mates" a short i did last year can be seen on utube. Its an mpg1 file. If you get time check it out. I think the credits may be a little long for utube. It seems everything i watch hardly have any credit time They're jumped right into. I think the idea of having only v.o. is not that great of an idea if done in the same fashion as the norm. But then again that in itself might set it apart. But if done out of the box it could be cool too. I had an idea of an all violent movie. The title was violent opera. No talking just pure freaking violence. The shot ratio would be less than 3 to 1 i'm sure. If you want to marry the god idea with the violent idea. We could talk. If just to shoot the crap.

I checked with them, they will process at .17 a foot. But they want 200 dollars an hour for transfering to mini dv. I respcet their price but not for a test. I may just have to project it, because i may have more tests anyway. I ran one last week and sent them the film. They should be mailing the processed back this week. Plus, there is a place on the university near by i want to check out. I could see using alpha cine for the transfer of the feature's footage. Hopefully a lcoal place will work.

I'd like to up load it to have in the computer. I tested fstops, framing, and things. And i can upload it into adobe and test things there too. Watch the fstops change, label the images, pause them for long periods of time. Make still frames and more. Is there a place that will transfer too? its a test all the way through even to see who i will use to process and transfer.

I just finished a test with 100ft. Anyone know a good place to have it processed and transfered to minidv. It's b&w reversal.

Thanks a bunch for the sample. I enjoyed it too! I'll take your advice. But what i'll do is shoot the first two minutes of the feature. Just treat it like a short. Thanks to everyone I'm keeping notes!

Plenty of night scenes and interiors. Walking along street passing store fronts. A bar scene. Office shots, int. houses, Halls, apartments, hospital, police station (mock, really just a building with offices). And some day shots- doesn't matter if sunny or cloudy. I want it to look as if it was shot with available light not just clean lighting. Since it is black and white i will not have to worry too much about yellows and blues and white balance. That's not the reason I'm shooting black and white but that is the plus side of b&W. I've shot shorts with super 8, video, and I'm a still photographer. I used to develope my own black and white pics before the digital age became more practical. Now i use the nikon d1 digital. This is the first time using 16mm, very very first feature. I don't have a light meter anymore. I don't really need one now. I know how my still camera lights. Honestly, i don't like a light meter. I know one is needed, but that don't mean i have to like it. So its been a while since i've used one and I'm wondering since it is 16mm do i need to do anyhting different than if i was lighting for 35mm. I'm going to be using 16mm in a feature with a lot more than one location. (hope cam tests go good) I've done some reg 8 years back, and spr 8mm, but this time I'm going to need to understand lighting for 16mm. And I can control the fstops on this film camera- that freedom rocks. Are there any good light meters (inexpensive ones) out there that someone might suggest? And if so where at? Any other tips are very much welcome. If it helps, it Looks to be that I'll be using black and white, 7266. But color is not ruled out at this point plus maybe the next project will be color.
