  1. yeh! Speaking of the grain - it looks like simple video gain to me and I don't know whats so special about that - nor the occasional lens flare in the form of a few small marks jittering across the screen. And what's up with the tedious back and forth 6 times rack focus? Does anyone know what format this was shot on?
  2. So I gues it goes without saying that the SDX exposure latitude is equal to or greater then the DVX? JH
  3. So I got a gig to shoot and edit some car dealer 10 second tags. I own the DVX100a and a Mac with FCP but was thinking of renting the SDX900 and a Deck to digitize everything. So why would I do this? for 50MBPS instead of 10MBPS? 4:2:2 instead of 4:1:1 ??? I take it it's worth it ($700 for everything when all said and done) and the quality will be noticed? In the end I'll probably take the DV tapes to a post facility for transfer to BetaSP. Thanks, Jonathan
  4. Are there any shutter speeds that we should not use at 24p ? I thought I read somewhere one time that 1/24 is bad for some reason. too blurry with tracking movements? Or it will not import nicely into FCP? Any thoughts? Thanks
  5. So when using the anamorphic lens on the DVX100a... 1) Is it proper to then set the camera to "squeeze" mode? 2) How does the image appear on the viewfinder (LCD) is it streched? or is it matted somehow? 3) Then when importing into FCP do we then need to unsquish it? Thanks, JH
  6. Can someone help me understand the gamma settings on the DVX100A? What is the difference between a moderate gradient and a sharp gradient for the low luminance areas? Cine-Like-D says the dynamic range is higher - does this mean it is more light sensitive or theres more detail in the whites and darks? I'm trying to determine what would be the best suited for a dark grey car in a studio using hot lights in low key. Thanks any feedback is greatly appreciated. -Jonnyh
