    Editing Kinetta

Hi Jason, thanks for you reply... however i don't quite grasp what you are saying... Are you saying that, however the kinetta is capable of shooting 1080/60p, he will not be capable of capturing it onto it's hard drives? Is there a way to process the 60 fps footage in post, so it can be used. I would love to shoot at 1080/24p, but I also want to shoot at 60p to get a real filmlike slowmotion. What i don't want to do is shooting at 720/24p, just to be capable of editing 60 frames/sec footage to get my slowmo's right. The decklink can edit 720/60p... It would be really stupid that you have to shoot on a lower resolution, just to get those few slowmotionshots on 60 frames/sec.... There must be some kind of alternative??? thanks for replying... sfinx

    Editing Kinetta

Hi guys, Was checking out all possible means of editing 12 bit 4:4:4 dual sdi signal and as far as I know there are only 2 possible ways of doing so: 1) the decklink HD Pro 2) the kona But, those are quite affordable cards, so no problem over there. However. I was under the impression that the kinetta will be able to stream 12 bit 4:4:4 dual sdi at 60 progressive frames/sec. Is there: 1) even a capture card out there wich knows how to deal with the 60 progressive frames 2) even a hard-drive system (raid or so), that can handle the data stream of that signal (the kinetta seems to be capable of handling it though). 3) if that would all be possible, i presume you can still only edit 1 track of video footage, as 2 tracks would ask for a double sustained data rate (600 -700 MB/s)... Can that be achieved in an easy way? Thanks for you help! sfinx ps: any of you more news on the release of the kinetta, is the altasens chips shipping yet?
  5. i just wanted to know whether the altasens really can deliver 60 progressive frames a second at full resolution or not.... anybody an idea?
  6. hey adrian white, do you have a url to the silicon site where we can get some more information on there camera... i would like to compare it with the jvc! thanx
  7. Hey pete, thanx for the overview.... its needed in times where there is a new "solution" every week! I'm a little bit confused though. The altasens could be the ultimate solution for indie filmmakers, but from altasens homepage i understand that the camera can deliver 1936 x 1086 at 60 progressive frames per second. But, that is not what i understand from JVC's page about the KH-F870U, who is using the exact same chip. JVC says that is is actually 60 progressive frames/sec at 720 resolution... Is there anybody who is certain about this point??? I truly hope its 60fps at full resolution, cause we will finally have those beautifull slowmotions!!!! thanx sfinx
