  2. I'm trying to recreate that look with a battery-powered light source, the cheapest possible/available. Night exteriors, don't have access to a generator.
  3. Is there any way to get that effect with a battery-powered source?
  4. What would be the most portable/mobile and cost efficient way to light this? Thanks David.
  5. http://i.imgur.com/2wE0kUm.jpg It's a still from Michael Mann's BLACKHAT. I'm curious as to what light this is, what diffusion, how far from the actors, etc. Thank you very much.

  7. Shooting a music video on a 5D MKIII hat will take place mostly at night. All exteriors. It'll be all handeld, with no rigs, as I'm stealing a bunch of locations. It's going to take place in Manhattan, so there'll be sources of light around - from buildings, streetlamps, etc. My question: Should I rent the 24-70 IS 4.0, or trade in the IS for an extra stop and go for a 24-70 2.8. I really want the movements to look fluid. So... Thanks, F.

  9. I really want to use daylight, and I'll put a sound blanket over the putt putt if I have to. My basic question is if you think 2 1.1 LED's OR 2 Kino's will give you enough exposure with the given parameters.
  10. Yes, and they're also more portable than anything else. My 2nd choice would be 2 kino's...but I would prefer LEDs. Any exposure experts out there? 2 1 X 1 LED's on a subject at night rougly 10-13ft. away? Enough exposure there?
  11. Yeah, more like 20mph. Anyone else with suggestions? I am strongly favoring 2 1X1 flooded LED's. Will that be enough exposure?
  12. It's actually more like 12-15 ft in distance from subject, not 18-22ft as I mentioned before.
  13. Hi all, I am directing a music video on either a 5D MKIII or a Red Epic. It will be shot exclusively at night and from the back of a pickup truck, following a guy running, much like the reference photo of the disabled runner I attached. Will be shot in Los Angeles and my subject will be roughly 18-22 feet away while the pickup truck will be driving 30-35mph. Always a profile shot, I'll just change lenses, not camera position. The "look" I want to achieve is similar to the one from the Kobe Bryant photo, except the subject is farther away and I want the lighting to illuminate the whole subject, creating a "spotlight" halo effect. My question: 1. What sort of lighting/lights will I need to light from that distance so we can light the subject well? I want to avoid HMI's at all costs, if possible. The smaller, the better. Are there any potent + powerful LED lights that do this? Thank you! Fernando
  14. I have 3 1000' ft rolls and one 460' short end of 35mm 5229. It's in very good shape, used for a commercial. What's a reasonable asking price for it? Thank you.
  15. I'm getting close to shooting a spot which will be comprised almost entirely of close-ups of black skin. Looking to use very soft sources, and a mixture of lighting - frontal, silouette, etc. Can anyone recommend any good films as a reference point? I'm thinking Spike Lee, but his lighting isn't quite as artful as what I'm looking for. Also, if anyone knows any still photographers that would be incredibly useful too. Thanks. Fernando
  16. I'm trying to gather references that go from a close-up to a wide via a dolly/steadicam move. I can think of one right now, the shot outside the window from LAST DAYS. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
  17. Nearly all daytime exteriors...Super 16mm...I don't want any grain. Thank you.
  18. If I rent a camera package from a rental house in Los Angeles during a long weekend, will I be able to use that package for that extra day (Monday) or will I have to pay for that extra day?
  19. the new charlie kaufman film...anybody know who will shoot it?
