  1. Panosonic is my choice. i am narrowing down between the dvx or the hvx depending on money issues. the colors on the Panasonics are so vivid.
  2. See i understand that you can shoot interiors vivid by shooting colorfull things, but i will go ahead and assume that it is DI that mostly gives it the vivid for things like nature?
  3. Hi, I really enjoy DP's that shoot for vivid colors, movies like big fish, garden state among others. What techniques with lighting, film stock, color correcton are done to achieve this.
  4. I'm going to have to say Sol Negrin asc, for the sole purpose that he is my teacher.
  5. Any differences between that and the gaffers handbook
  6. Does anyone know of any books that will teach you the thing s that you need to know to work in the electric department. ?

Is it jsut me or the XL2 the most overrated video camera. I'll go with the panasonic any day.
  8. Ok, this is a trailer sorta from a movie I lit. I was the assistant DP in charge of lighting,. I didn't set up any shots that was the directors. heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqf5vpGG8nQ
  9. It's not through college its through a wilson tech program.
  10. This maybe a stupid question but how much actual electric work does the electric dept need to know. I.E. rewiring sockets and stuff along that line. If none would having that experiece help at all in getting more work, ause I can get a free electrical program through my school till I am 21. and if it will help me later on in life I will utalize this.

  12. I would agree with what mr. mullen has to say he is a genious. I was pointing out my own personal experience. the only thing I would check is the depth of field charts for HD. I think it is similar to 35mm but I could be wrong. this is where your lighting can be slurred abit.
  13. Hey, Thanks for clearing that up, and sorry for misspelling that . I didnt mean I HATE the camera dept. I mean I love camera stuff, but I love lighting more. and I feal I would have more fun setting uo lights than camera. All this can change as my education moves forward I mean I have yet to fool around with the sr2 and 3 which i'll work with next year. I am just weighing my options. What about the possibility of doing both? wouldnt that open me up for more work, although I wouldn't want to spread myself too thin...
  14. Actually when shooting HD (most of the time) it requires more light than film or regular video. I lit a short for my friend and he used the cine alta and we needed more light than normal.
  15. Ok, So I think I am going to climb the ranks to DP through the electric Dept. from a gapher cause the camera Dept seams boring to me. but what I am wondering is how much the electric dept's pay is. like Electric-?, BB Electric- ?, Gapher - ? thanks
