  5. If you change your reference luminance from 50% to 70%, you'd be "biasing" your ASA approximately one stop faster. , which translates to about 50-55 IRE. But zebra do meters give 50% grey or 18%?
  6. How would I mount the camera to the pipe (goal post 0?>
  7. Ive been using my spotmeter for B&W still photography but now would like to use it to help expose my DVCAM (ikegami HLDV7w) on an upcoming shoot. How can I do this? What should I set the asa on the spot meter to and what do I do about my shutter speeds. I normally expose my video using zebras and my eye and cant afford a waveform. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (im using a canon 9:19 zoom) Thank you; jack
  8. Then work manually from there, not worrying too much about what's zebra'd. If something has gone way over IRE and isn't broadcast safe, there are settings in your NLE to bring just THOSE WHITES down to make your footage broadcast safe. Hey Jonathan, Is there any way I could get you to elaborate on how to expose using a light meter. Forgive my ignorance but i don't know how ASA and fstop correspond w one another.
  9. I relized i posted in the wrong place hence the double thanks though for your advice with my issue. how can I delete a post
  10. Hey folks, Is there a stand out there that can double as a light stand and camera mount. I wan't to rent a stationary stand that I can use to overhang a Fresnel as a down light but would also, in the interest of saving money use the same arm to hold my 2/3" DVCAM. Does such a stand and assembly exist. The Camera lens needs to point straight down prpendicular w/ the ground for a static overhead shot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks; jack

  12. What are these and are they the same thing? Are they only for blocking light overhead or could light be placed behind and silk used as diffusion. What do you need to mount or operate these ie. hardware, stands, frames etc? Also does anyone have any recomendations on the use of something like this as a big soft source -vs- a Kino Flo? I have to rent some gear for an upcoming DV shoot on the East coast interiors and exteriors, more intr. I will also have a 2k, 1k fresnel and some misc. fixtures. Thank You
