  1. Outside of LA, what would you rank as the top markets for DPs in the US (and possibly Canada) in terms of viability to build a career? NYC? Chicago? Austin?
  2. thanks, the reel is made up of all different formats. the shots from the colorful film in the beginning was shot on super16. the super shallow dof was due to shooting a lot of the night stuff wide open on a cooke t1.4 10-30 zoom, which saved my butt since i only had small lighting units (2k was the biggest). also, used close focus on the dramatic focus pulls, basically shooting around m.o.d. then theres a mix of hd, sd, and even some digital8 thrown in the mix. i agree that it's a bit long, i'll have to work on that.
  3. anyone have thoughts on how i've structured this? i don't really like how reels are usually made up of a bunch of random and beautiful shots but don't necessarily attest to a cinematographer's ability to pull off a look consistently across a project or even a scene. i collapsed a twelve minute film into the first two minutes of my reel, then it is followed by a music video montage, followed by an experimental, dreamy collapsed story, followed by a documentary montage, totally just under five minutes. the idea is to show a variety of looks and shooting styles. would be cool to get some responses as to whether or not this works.
  4. great work! it's long but actually entertaining as a stand-alone piece. the shots are very dyanmic and show a great range but it could be best to leave out all but the really high production value work.
  5. Just finished cutting this reel and I'd really like to know what people think. Please be honest, brutally so if necessary. What do you like and what would you do differently? www.afterglow4k.com/reel I'm going to go through and give the same feedback for other reels that have been posted yesterday. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.
