  2. Tannerite? legally easy to purchased online.
  3. this may be a bit late but possibly useful - I recently graduated from UNLV and our cinematography professor is Michele Hugo asc and through his connections I was lucky enough to learn to shoot on a Panaflex 16mm elaine and panaflex 35mm G2. 16mm in the fall and 16mm and 35mm in the spring semesters. Tuition is relatively inexpensive comparatively speaking and one can learn a great deal. Also you get to go on a work shop to Mole-Richardsons. hope this helps
  4. Thanks brother, appreciate the info! sounds very sensible and something I considered, but of course was trying to make it easier for myself - learning or excepting the fact that cinematography is an art form that demands more than youtube demonstrations is, in the process, a gift in a costume.
  5. hi, Thanks for the reply! Now, if I don't have access to the eclair power cable, what are my choices? Are there any adapters available from the 12v 7 amp big battery to the 4 pin XLR? Well, thanks again for putting my ignorance to rest! giap vu
  6. Hello all, I purchased an ACL on ebay and it appears that the oscillating mirror is slightly worn down. I haven't been able to test the camera as of yet because I don't have a lens or a battery ( does anyone know where I can buy some batteries) but before I invest anymore money I was wondering if this - the slightly filed oscillating mirror - will hamper the image quality. I've included a couple of pictures shot with my iphone for inspection. Thanks in advance for any and all responses! Giap Vu

    what arri to by?

michael, I think I get it now. I'll do more research before making a decision - although the small amount of investigation I've done so far makes me - weighing the opportunity costs - a bit intrigued by the aaton a-minima; based on cost, function, and future possibilities. thanks! Giap

    what arri to by?

P.S.: may I ask ? and truly respectful people should have asked you that way earlier, apologies for that ? on what notions your preference for a Super 16 arriflex camera are based in the first place? The first reason would probably have to be because my cinematography professor also has an arriflex, and I was thinking that if I had any technical, as well as aesthetic questions, it would be that much easier for him to help me. My second reason is that next to panavision, arri seems more prolific then the other name brands. So, I guess you can say i am pretty close to being your typical not so very well informed consumer.

    what arri to by?

Hi, I sort of looked into the Aaton A-Minima, and am a bit impressed, but if I understood correctly, from what I've read, is it mostly a hand held type camera? Also the Arriflex 416 is beautiful but quite out of my ball park.

    what arri to by?

Hi Bill, thanks for the speedy response! I'm going to film school now and soon will be graduating, so I'll have a lot more time to experiment, and to hone my craft. I was hoping for something that I could eventually use to film a full length, and hopefully use for many years to come. Basically my intent is to become a working cinematographer, so when I make the initial investment on equipment, I don't want to purchase the wrong stuff.
