    Splicing 16mm

What are you using to splice 16mm these days. For splicing together reels for transfer? For adding a longer leader? For repairs? For editing and slicing...for those bold enough to dare? Tape or Cement?
  2. Bill, I apologize for this forum. I feel for you in trying to keep the conversation about lenses and film. The subject of Big Foot is such a distraction that many can't help but to comment on its existence or not. I claim to own a set of Chupacabra bones so I can relate to this type of controversy, but that is another topic thread on another forum. Come on guys give this man some slack and keep the thread's topic pure.
  3. From what Bernie just left on my VM an Eiki can be made into a Super16 projector. I'm assuming that a projector can be fitted for Ultra16mm. So the question is which format? I want to shoot home movies, cost is secondary... to a degree. Look and quality are a priority. To shoot S16 or U16 and then project on a screen? That is the question.
  4. Bill do you have the 2K scanned 16mm first generation footage posted somewhere for us to see what you are seeing?
  5. I assume there are no S16 reversal films currently being manufactured to shoot and project with? All negative?
  6. so some projectors can accommodate S16 film Are the one sided sprockets on some of the projectors on the correct side to play S16? My confusion on this topic is two fold. 1.) No one ever talks about projecting S-16, for any reason and I though the reason was because... 2.) the film does not configure with standard 16mm projectors. Anyone know where you can find a dedicated or modified S16 projector. I'm thinking of shooting some awesome home movies.
  7. But wait, aren't the S-16 perforations not the same size or space as the regular 16mm? Sort of like the difference between 8mm and super 8mm?
  8. Not angry, just having some fun being emphatic. The idea of projecting 16mm home movies has gone the way of the dinosaur BUT when people are allowed to experience a projected film on a good sized screen, there is an altogether different experience. A good one, don't you think?
  9. Is it one of the Eiki projectors or perhaps the Bolex. Or just maybe the Fumeo. If so which model and why? I'm looking to shoot and project movies as they were meant to be!
  10. It's been sometime since I owned the Nikon R-10 and been thinking of picking one up again. Will the camera recognize the t-64 and D-100 automatically without adjusting the aperture to compensate? Thanks.
  11. Have not owned more than a half dozen camera's to have an opinion worth sharing, so I'm counting on you all.
  12. I have a mint mint mint condition one on Ebay anyone ever use them? Do you know that there is a card indie the box showing the various cameras by profile and the different ways you can configure it like the Fujica ZC1000 and the Leicina Special, Nizo etc.
  13. Love the concept of single 8mm with its professional gate and transport system. Mine is in the classified section. Anyone ever use one?
  14. Unit is in excellent running condition. Includes a new wafer sized auto exposure battery. Underwater housing is in excellent condition except (there always seems to be an "except") the plastic rear sight has a slight tear in one corner. No need fixing it because it aligns fine as you look through it and is not going anywhere, it's secure. Cosmetically and mechanically guaranteed no D.O.A.'s. How about $99 for all which includes a half used roll of film and e-mail for the best place to purchase and develop single-8mm movie film. Ships anywhere in the US for $20
  15. How has the 64T faired since its reception? Many in the beginning felt it very grainy. Since then it appears the grain size has shrunk. Is this due to better processing or better film?
  16. Comes with Camera, power belt, power cord, case, 3 prime lenses, instruction manual and a light meter. Rents $100 for one day. $200 for the weekend and $400 by the week. Credit card and deposit are necessary. Shipping extra. Call us at 315-952-2671 or 315-593-3010 9am - 9pm EST. John or Christen. or PM me.
  17. They just announced the news I was asking about. V3 baby! Vision Three
  18. This question is a bit esoteric due to the limited availability of both brands of projectors. But perhaps some of you US projector purist's and European's with greater equipment availability of the Bauer P7 or P8 line and the Fumeo's (any model) could comment about these two 16mm projectors. It seems they are top of the line but sadly nothing is said about the two side by side.
  19. I can't find the post but Kodak's John Pytlak had said in 2005/6 on the Super-8 forum that digital processing??? was something Kodak was working on that he did not for obvious reasons go into.
  20. Just wondering if we will see a Vision3 anytime soon? Or some-other improvement in developing technology? Any rumors?
  21. Point well taken. I hope I did not hurt your feelings. I was not trying to. We can move on if and when you and the others are ready. Take a look at this link. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OAP4Ym7LZhY Notice the first comment? That is all I was trying to say. Again I'll be more careful as to not be so insensitive in my posts until I at least get out of my arm chair and release what I've got for your and others consideration. I'm in Final Cut Heck trying to learn it. Best to you and your projects.
  22. Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, this was my original quote. "Is it me or does this trailer look so super-8? Meaning the registration is...Yuck!" Santos has influenced my way of thinking. Super-8 and the way it is being used and how light the cameras are contribute to what seems to be a very "super-8" look for almost everyone who touches it. I thought that parts of the trailer was one more in a list of examples of how I'd like super-8 not to look "unsteady on two fronts 1.) camera movement and 2.) registration. Have you seen the embarrassing footage in pro8mm demo dvd? I'm not criticizing the content, the choice of stocks, story-line, action, direction, acting. I was just asking anyone who cared to comment if the trailer looked "super-8" to anyone else. I want filmmakers to succeed including this film. Wow its amazing how 15 words can be received. So again I ask but without the "yuck" word. Is the registration in this trailer look unsteady to you overall? And so far its a mixed bag. I'm purchasing a Fujica ZC1000 and looking for a Canon DS8 camera to help solve this issue for me. And plan on having every camera I own serviced. Other than moving to an Arri S/B, using a tripod with super8 and weighing down the camera are some solutions. Let's move on.
