  1. It also looks like there may be some scratching on the projection lens b/c some of the lines don't move as in they don't just stay in the same place, they really don't move. I'm assuming this is projected footage.
  2. Is your Harrison changing bag still for sale?
  3. i just made a dolly out of two wheel chairs and connected them front to front with some wood and took off the small spinning wheels so it was more or less a four wheel dolly. It worked really well, except i noticed some torsional twisting in the wheels but it could be b/c my wheelchairs sucked. If you could get a hold of two wheelchairs (alot of times people you know will let you borrow), you can make it really easily with just a little bit of lumber. If you want i can post some pics of it.
  4. Looks great, is there anyway i can see Amos: Playback Payback somehow? With english subtitles preferably?

    Good Glass

This is kinda open-ended but oh well. I've always assumed that Ziess glass was the absolute pinnacle of optics for 16mm film, but then again i'm not super knowledgable yet haha. It seemed like Ziess glass was something i should work at acquiring at some point. What kind of lenses do you guys/gals like?
  6. This is great, its nice to see medium specificity in a new light. Keep continuing to further our art.
  7. Well i think you would need a mount conversion (its something like nikon f to the CA or C-mount) and you would need a completely manual nikon lens which you control the aperture and focusing. I haven't ever heard of Nikons fitting directly onto the npr.
  8. ok sorry, when i refer to that i am referring to a claw-like mechanism that drags the film past the gate, i assumed that was a registration pin.
  9. I just got an Eclair NPR and was testing it out everything was fine until the the torque limiter mechanism starting clattering. I pulled off the magazine side (exposing the previously fogged film) and noticed this only happened with my english magazine (the french one worked fine). I took the film out of the magazine and ran it again still hearing a clicking sound even though the torque limiter wasnt bouncing up and down. I then applied some pressure forcing the magazine just slightly toward the viewfinder along the lens axis and the clicking stopped. Once again i tried the french magazine and everything was fine. I think that had to do with thicker foam around the pressure plate. However without the magazine on i ran it at 24 and 30 fps and i noticed at 30 fps the registration pin began clicking but not at 24. This really worried me so i put the magazine back on with film in it and it still clicked at 30 fps but not 24. Could i have ruined the registration pin somehow? I know you aren't supposed to run the camera at high speeds without film but i thought 30 fps was kinda the upper limit and it was ok? Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am new to NPR and 16mm film in general.
  10. When you are shooting 200 ASA Tungsten balanced film outdoors and you use an 85B filter this effectively changes your ASA to 125. When I meter this scene, should i meter at 125 ASA with the filter in front of the white dome? or should I meter at 125 w/out the filter? Or are either of those correct? I know this is very basic but i can't seem to think about it the right way.
  11. Interesting method. Thanks alot again.
  12. Thanks a lot for the info. I must say it is an honor to have you personally answer my message. Do you think there are many crystal speed checkers floating around the internet or are they for the most part gone? Is it a big enough problem to worry about? or is it fairly rare for them to slip? Also can you inch the NPR shutter into viewing position if it doesn't stop there? Enough questions? haha Thanks again.
  13. I tried but his inbox is full.
  14. I am looking at an Eclair NPR with a motor that is allegedly one of Clive's. I haven't been able to find any info on a TXM-6. This is the info he provided Model- TXM-6 Input- 12/16v Freq- 4915200 Serial- 623 Output- 24/30 Fps Hz- Crystal I figured you would know best and if you could just let me know about it if you don't mind i would really appreciate it. Thanks alot. -Scott Bryant
  15. OK cool, i've asked to see a close up of the gate and also asked about shipping and specifics about the motor so i guess we'll see what he says. Thanks for the advice again
  16. I've talked to him and he's responded and sent me a video clip link on youtube to some footage he shot. He also said he would send me more pics. I'm still trying to be cautious though
  17. Anyone know about this motor? I can't seem to find much about it. ARRI BL CRYSTAL CONTROL UNIT MINILOCK A It's on this camera on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...193344&rd=1
  18. I really want to get this camera but it looks like a scam. What do you guys think? My instincts tell me it is but i can't be sure. Any advice? http://cgi.ebay.com/Eclair-NPR-16mm-Film-C...1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Thanks alot for the info. Since i don't have a local lab maybe i could pay you for some spools and boxes?
  20. Does anyone know how to go about taking one 400ft roll and making it into four 100ft rolls? I mean obviously you have to have some daylight spools but as far as shipping them to a lab or something, i'm not sure about that. I don't have spare cans or anything. Any ideas? Can you get spare 100ft cans or boxes? Is this even possible?
  21. Would you be willing to split up the group?
  22. I've been in kinda the same boat as you for a while ernie. I was looking for really cheap and got a Beaulieu R16 a good camera to start on in my opinion but i don't really know much better. I figure now i'm wanting to make a couple of longer short films so i may have to bite the bullet and step up to a gsmo, or arri bl or maybe an eclair npr. I figure if you take care of it you can sell it back for around what you paid for it so i may look into doing that. It would suck to drop that kind of money on a small budget but you might be able to make a good portion of that back.
