  1. I tried making a boom mic for my DV camera using a wooden pole, and then i attached the mic holder to the end of the pole. The problem is, when i attach my mic to the holder, the mic easily pics up all the sounds of the hands gripping the pole, and it blocks out all the other sound. What can I do to eliminate this sound?
  2. I am currently looking around at schools in the US that teach the film industry. I actually live right across the lake from Toronto, and I heard somewhere that 50% of Hollywood movies are made in Canada? If so, would Toronto be a good place to attend school and learn about the industry?
  3. I am filming scenes right now that I am trying to give as much of a night look as possible. I am not sure how I should film them to get the best look. I don't think I am able to shoot at real night, and use lighting, so I want to shoot when there is still enough sunlight. Is it easier just to shoot early evening, and make it look like night in post?? Or anyway else, and what effects do you apply to get a night look?
  4. I am having trouble getting an external mic to work with my Sony DCRTRV38 The mic is 1/4 inch, and when I use an adapter to convert, the sound is crackly and turns on/off. On the camera, it says something about PLUG-IN-POWER, does anyone know what this means. I also tried hooking up a mixer into the external mic port, and this caused static and a humm, until I started talking through the mixer, then the static went away, and then after you stop talking, the static fades back in again?????? Any help or suggestions for external mics. Is there a certain adapter you need to convert from quarter inch??????
  5. I have a Sony DCR TRV38, a lower end camera, and I am trying to get a film look on it. One of it's digital effects is SLOW SHUTTER SPEED, and the lowest setting is 1/30 seconds. Would this help give my video a film look, or will it just distort the image in the end? Any help or advice would be great. Thanx
