I shot footage with the HVX - 720p/24pn in letterbox mode. I opened up a new project in Avid at 720/23.97. when I pulled up the MXF files they look stretched out and don't contain the 16:9 black matte. Why did this occur and how can I fix this?

For my shoot I have the choice to use both cameras: one panasonic hvx-200 and one panasonic dvx-100b. I can use both if necessary and would ideally like to in order to expedite the shooting. Here is my question: Is there a way I can set up and shoot with both cameras and have the quality of the image look similar?
