Hi, I have actively read this forum for a long time but have just created my user name to post. At the end of the year I will be shooting a feature in Panama, Paris, and New York. I have been doing a lot of research in terms of renting equipment (35mm [panavision/moviecam] or HD [F900]) and a G&E package consisting of 6k pars, maxis, and the smaller units working down the line) and the best (and most economical) way of getting it there, is what appears to be the biggest challenge. Paris does not seem to pose much of a problem in way of getting the equipment I need and New York is definitely not a problem. My main question is - does anyone have any experience getting this type of gear in a truck to a place like Panama City. My producers will be doing the research but I thought it would be best to hear from someone that has done it. I have been in contact with a rental hosue in Bogota, Columbia (and that would be a treck back up to Panama City) and have started looking into the options of - shipping the gear from New York or LA via air - or possibly renting a barge (most likely from LA) and sending the packed truck to Panama City that way.
