    Double8mm

I got my hands on a Bolex H8 recently, and it uses the doublerun 8mm reels. In other words, it uses a 16mm roll, but uses a 8mm gate, so you can run it twice through the camera. I contacted Kodak, and they will still make double-perf 16mm film, but only in large quantities, but the other problem is that the film still needs to be perforated between the 16mm sprocket holes in order to allow for the 8mm mechanism. Kodak does not provide this service. So my question is, does anyone know of any people/services out there that perhaps buy raw Kodak stock and convert it to the necessary measurements/perfs in order to run in a 8mm camera? Or if perhaps someone makes/sells a machine that will punch extra perfs into 16mm stock? Thank you.
  2. I've had a GL1 for about three years now and it's serviced me great, although I don't use it as often lately, and so forget some of the technical issues with it. So here I am seeking help. When I digitized with Final Cut, it used to record/playback in non-drop, but about February of this year, it began to record in drop-frame mode. So now when I digitize from the camera, Final Cut will read the timecode as drop frame. Even if I remove the tape from the camera and insert it in a JVC MiniDV deck, Final Cut still reads it as dropframe. This does't happen with older DV tapes I recorded on the camera, or with DV tapes from other sources, so I'm thinking that the camera itself is recording dropframe. The problem is I can't find any information on dropframe mode for a GL1. I don't even know if a GL1 makes any kind of demarcation between drop-frame or non-drop as it's recording. My question is: Did I somehow inadvertantly change the settings of the GL1 to record in drop-frame? How would I go about changing it back to non-drop? Or is this a GL1 problem at all, or the way the deck/Final Cut is reading the tape? Ciould it be something to do with the way Canon GL1's record onto a miniDV tape that is throwing the other equipment off? Thank you for your time, and I hope to have many more discussions here in the future.
