I would really like to know the logistics of the opening scene to raging bull. How did he get get such a crisp distinct black of the ropes in the foreground yet the hazy gray in the back? what do you think it was how did he make it look so fuzzy and foggy yet the ropes so crisp and the light bulb flashes so definitive? any help would do thanks

mm well I guess just standard. I've seen comparison footage and I can't tell the diff. I really hope I don't waste like almost 1500 grand on basically nothing. Is the DVX worth the extra money basically? -
Alright basically I just wanted to ask, is the Canon HV20 better than the Panasonic DVX100b? price regardless just like if they were the same price, which would be the better choice and why?

Alright, thanks a bunch! I think the AC adapter is the charger because on another site with the camera it says: AC Adapter/ Battery Charger. I'm convinced that it is! Thanks again -

If anyone could look at the link. Down at the bottom it says "What's in the box" Does it come with a charger? It says AC cable and AC adapter I think? So basically no charger? I'd have to get that seperately? -

Well, Jim Last time I checked you weren't the authority on which hobby belongs to who. From my own personal experience I'm pretty sure that that ,throughout the course of history, has been left up to the individual not the masses. If you think this post was aimless then why comment on it? How could you'r reply have any relevance if my this entire post (to you) has none? I think Jim need to FIND a hobby... and leave those alone who are trying to delevop theirs. Sorry I DON'T have a lot of money and thanks to everyone who accually helped I look forward to the new reading material. -

Hello, well I was looking at websites to buy a camera and I came across this. Now, the day I saw the website the DVX100b was running for (cheapest) $699 then the next day I came across it and it was $989. They said it was due to fluctuation in price of electronics everyday. I'm not so sure of this? Should I buy from these guys? I'm a little scared, but if I can get it for that much then I'm happy.

Please help. I'm looking to buy a new camera and here are my options The one I'm probably going to end up buying is this one http://www.usaphotonation.com/products.asp...mp;dept_id=2527 the 700 package. However, I was wondering if THIS camera was better? What would be a better buy for a more professional look? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1166840341098 Thx for your help!

Hi, I was wondering how I could possibly do an effect of like a faint beam of light across the screen. A very good example of it could be found here http://www.thelot.com/episodes/?ep=8&vd=91 If you pause the video at 1:30 it's about right then. That's the effect I want to create. Help is appreciated! Thanks

Well Martin that's really what I want to do. I really want to become a DP and please if you could I would really appreciate it if you could maybe go over some of the basics with me. I'm in pre-production of a movie and there is a lot of things I still need to know. For instance what is shutter frame or something I've heard? How do i get "depth of field" If anyone could help me understand maybe a little bit I would greatly appreciate it. Another thing, I don't really have any availability to a 35mm camera Martin because I'm really tight on money right now due to hospital bills and this is forcing me to get a job and work as hard as I can and save my money and I don't think this project can last more than 6 or 7 months in pre-production which is around the time ,with money saving my money, I'll have about 2,400 dollars. If you could help me in any way I would very thankful. Thanks for your time Tommy Hughes -

Wow lol alot of insight. Well thanks, I most definetly would prefer digital as opposed to film. Also how much would a boom go for. Your right i DO deffinetly need something other than the built in mic. I have a very very fast mac and final cut studio so editing i'm okay with. I was looking at this. Can someone tell me if this is a good deal? http://www.acephotodigital.com/sc/review-p...sp?id=964596263 Also would it be possible to be able to simulate the effect used on saving private ryan ,where i read they had to scrape off a certain layer on their lense in order to get flares in the picture, without having to scrape off the lense. Also how did they make the movie 28 Days Later look so gritty. I've looked for AWHILE and all i could found was that he did something like blew up the images or something like that. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also so you know I'm deffinetly looking for a shoulder camera. I greatly admire the look of movies such as Traffic which if ANYONE has ANY insight about I'd GREATLY appreciate it. I'd KILL to make my films look like that. Thank you all for your help! -

the thing is...i have no idea... not silent... something like digital video... what did they use for 28 days later and how much did it cost? -
Hey you guys, I'm a director looking to be my own DP so I really would like to know. i'm a total newbie. What is the best camera i can get in the like 1,500-2,300 range? thank you so much!
-
I've heard a few things about mr. boyle but what I really wanted to know was.. On 28 Days Later how did he achieve that gritty affect? I would really like to know and what I've heard was, since it was an independant movie, he used a somewhat "cheap" camera and blew the image size up. I also heard he shot it with a digital camera so I was wondering if that could be done in something like final cut with footage from a digital home video camera. I'm looking to make a career in directing but have nothing but a home video camera (which will soon change due to getting a job) but I really want to be my own DP when I do so. If I could get some advice on how to get my film to look like Traffic I'd greatly appreciate it. (sorry about the sudden change of topic to traffic). I would like to know how he got the Tiajuana effect. it looked gritty-ish as well. Thanks for any help!
