  1. I'm glad to hear your camera made it through! I wanted to ask you roughly how much the super 16 Conversion cost you in US dollars, all-in (shipping and all) and how you feel about Les' work. Also, I noticed we have the same birthday, March 25th, just I was born in 81. Best, JC
  2. The original person with the camera was down in L.A. I saw the camera, it was from a pawn shop and needed much love to get it back into shape. Since then, I've seen those same photos pop up at least 5 or 6 times with different users.
  3. Can you take a photo of the connector and post it online to see?
  4. You and Nathan are in New York, correct?
  5. Hi All, I wanted to find out how hard it is and the costs involved with getting at LTR7 converted to super 16 from regular 16. The Aaton is a late model with a C10XX serial number (this is around where they started making the LRT54, right?) Also, are there any recommened places? Thanks! JC
  6. Congrats! I've really been looking at the NPR, but the things that concerns me is the weight. Since I want this to be a very flexible purchase, I think the lighter weight of the ACL will be a big advantage to her. As for the Aaton, I love them dearly and If I could swing it, I would definitely go that route, but dollar for dollar it seems a little harder to rock it. If you don't mind my asking, where did you wind up getting your NPR? I went to school up in San Francisco, but I now live down in LA. JC
  7. Hi Allen, One of the main reasons I can't even really bring up the topic, let alone let her pick a camera, is that we are currently saving up for our wedding right now and really not in the greatest spot financially. If I brought up a camera, she would shoot down the idea as a waste of money and then she'd say how she hasn't even touched a camera in 2 years, so what would be the point. She is miserable doing what she is doing though, and I want to get her back into her field, so it kind of leaves me in a situation to surprise her. I caan't even really talk about cameras as it isn't a normal topic for us and she'd figure somethign was up. (She's pretty swift.) Luckily, the budget I've worked up doesn't give me too many extreme choices. I'm really leaning between an Aaton (if I can get a good deal when I have the money) or (more likely) I will probably push towards an ACL2. Last, I've worked with her on set (doing AC work for her as my minor was cine) to know she's pretty open and flexible on cameras. Thank you for the advice! JC
  8. Thanks! I requested the serial number from the guy to try and see if I can find out the last time it was serviced and where. Do you know roughly what the costs are to converrt the aaton from 16 to super?
  9. I've been keeping an eye on it to see how high it goes. Thanks for keeping an eye out!
  10. That is a pretty important aspect. I really want to get something that gives he a wide range on what she can do, also why I'm really pushing for Super 16 or 16. Thanks for th info, I wasn't really too familiar with this camera.
  11. It still has 4 days and x hours left..... He listed it low to get people to bid on it. It will surely go much, much, much higher before the ending stops.
  12. Thank for bringing that up. No, we don't have lenses. i thought I had listed that, but it seems I am very mistaken. I would, of course, love to get her primes, but i know that's not too realistic to start off and that I'd probably start with a zoom. Any thoughts, please share as I am eager to hear suggestions on lenses too.
  13. I know you spoke of Mitch's LTR54, which I really wish I could swing, but that is a bit out for me..... How do you feel about the LTR 7 instead of a 54? Do you know what the key differences would be?
  14. Thanks Tim. The input is much appreciated. I've been leaning towards the Eclair's mainly due to being able to get a little more for the money (I think I would be able to get her alittle more set-up on an Eclair than an aaton right off the bat due to money) but I am a huge aaton fan. My school mainly used Arris, which I liked, but the first time we had an aaton it was because all the arris were out and I fell in love. Anyhow, you feel a aaton without a matte box and/or a tripod would be better than going with an Eclair with a matte box and tripod?
