  1. Do the powerbooks have a card slot where I can plug in a P2 card?
  2. What would be the most efficient route to go for getting the P2 cards to my G5? Based on price and ease of use, of course. If the price of a macbook or a powerbook are similar to that of a portable P2 drive, then I guess I would go with that.
  3. Thank you, Pete. I have read some more on the forum about the Firestore, and it seems like I should go with the P2 cards. But then, how do I get the cards onto my computer? I will be shooting away from home, and my Mac has to stay behind. I saw a few P2 card drives on the net. Do these act as hard drives that download and then wipe your card, and then would connect to my Mac at the end of the day?
  4. I'm planning on purchasing an HVX200 in the next month. I want to use it to shoot in 720p/24 frames. How well does a Firestore FS-100 work for this? I heard that it has trouble with 24p video. Also, where is the best place to purchase the HVX? There is one place near my house that sells them. But would I get a better deal online, and at which website? So I guess my question is: HVX200-where to buy and Firestore or P2 cards? And anything else I would need to know before buying would be greatly appreciated. btw- I will be editing on my G5 MacPro tower with Final Cut Studio(soon to be Studio 2). Thanks for helping me out with this. -Jake
  5. We chose to go without the Anamorphic Converter. I have been using it lately, and have not liked the squeeze. I just prefer to have the image in the viewfinder as it will look in the final product. Thank you for all of your responses, by the way. This is a very helpful place!
  6. They are the kind of flourescents that are in the business we will be shooting in. What am I looking for to be able to determine what kind of flourescents they are? Thay are probably the kind that Costco at PDX sells. We have 2 sources. The daylight coming in the giant windows, and the banks of flourescents in the ceiling. I would assume that the bulbs are "cool white/soft white." To give the office a more happy feeling to it. ;)
  7. The feature I am shooting starts in a few weeks, and our first day's shoot is an interior with all flourescent lights. There are also a lot of windows letting in daylight. Are there gels we can buy to put over the flourescent lights and make them closer to daylight. They are giving us colors that we do not want. We are shooting on MiniDV by the way.
  8. I'm sure that if the AD continues doing what she's been doing...I'm sure I will have a very funny story to tell you. I'm going to be shooting some tests with and without the Anamorphic lens tomorrow. If the difference is small to none, I'm going to tell the director that we are shooting without it. I just like to see all of what I'm shooting as it will be on FCP and in the final product. All I really need to know is if the lens is worth it on a very low budget film shooting with a DVX-100A with a lot of steadicam work and close-ups. And where we are in a time crunch every day.
  9. There are going to be quite a few close ups. I was also just going to turn on the 16x9 bars on in the camera and shoot it that way. We also have a lot of steadicam shots, that would require somebody to carry the monitor with me. Or I would just have to go back and plug in the camera to the monitor and watch the shot to see if it was good or not. This is an ultra low-budget film, so time is important. As for the AD...yeah. She's a firecracker. <_< How much will the image on the DVX benefit from the anamorphic converter anyway?
  10. I am the DP of a feature film that is going to start shooting in the next month. The AD is insisting that we use an anamorphic lens on our DVX-100A. I have been playing around with it, and it seems to be more trouble than it is worth. The image won't un-squeeze in the viewfinder, and since I am the camera operator as well, and we are shooting a lot of hand held, I can't be looking at an external monitor the whole time I'm shooting. Should I just tell the director that it is more trouble than it is worth? Because it is starting to seem like it to me.
