Heres something that may help a bit. http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/1998/10/09feature.html The only thing I know is that the Directed by is the last credit in the beginning of the film OR the first credit at the end of the film and "A Film By" (or anything similar) is the same thing as directed by. The credits used in the beginning aren't shown again at the end.
