  1. Location Madison, WI Posts 48 02-04-2014, 09:07 PM I just wanted to let everyone know that we are having a huge online auction through Joseph Finn Company to sell off about 1400 lots of used lighting and grip equipment. We are not going out of business, we are expanding and selling off extra gear from our inventory due to the recent acquisition of another rental company. We are selling a bit of everything with 25 Kino Flo systems, 100's of Tungsten lights, 100's of stands, 50+ HMI systems, lots of electrical distro, LED fixtures, bulbs, grip hardware, etc..... Bidding opens February 28th and details of the auction and the catalog (still in the process of being cataloged over the next couple days) can be found at http://www.josephfinn.com and click on Red Star Pictures sale #1 and #2. We are also selling a full 3 ton and full 5 ton grip truck with turnkey equipment packages on both, will be listed as lots 400A and 400B in the auction by Wednesday of this week. Thanks for looking and best of luck bidding!
  2. I thought that $83999.99 sounded better. Unfortunately the buyer's financing fell through so it is back on ebay now. Here is the new link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=120531596878 I have also added a Mole Big Eye 10k to the package with the buy it now option.
  3. I have finally decided to change directions with my rental company and downsize from two trucks to one truck so I am selling my complete 5 Ton truck with the lighting and grip package. I am asking $83999.99 for the entire package and truck and have posted all of the details on eBay which you can see by following the link below. If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to contact me at travis@redstarpictures.com Thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...s%3DI%26otn%3D1
  4. Although the custom trailer rig sounds pretty cool. I think you would be much cheaper off going with a box truck since you can pick up a 20-24' box truck with a liftgate fro around $10k used in great shape, add another $2-3k for jockey boxes and shelving and you are done. I have a 24' box on my 5 ton (a former Ryder fleet truck) and it weighs in at just under 26000 lbs fully loaded so no need for air brakes or a CDL. The only problem I have with it is that I still need to take it somewhere to get the governor adjusted because it tops out at about 60 on the highway.
  5. 1 Par and 1 Fresnel are sold as well as both spare ballasts, everything else is still available.
  6. So I just decided to sell off my Arri HMI's from my grip truck. I have the following available: 2x Arri 1.2k HMI Fresnels (double ended), each includes 1 50' head cable, Dimmable Arri electronic ballast, lightly used bulb and barndoors............$2250 each 2x Arri 1.2k HMI Par systems (Par 64 sealed beam), each includes 1 50' head cable, 3 pc lens set, lens box, 3pc scrim set, compact Arri Magnetic Ballast, brand new bulb (used for 1 hour to break in) and brand new barndoors...................................$2500 each 2x Spare Arri Compact Magnetic Ballasts 1.2k..................................$500 each 1x Spare 1.2k head cable............................................. ....................$100 I will not have pics of these to send anyone until Monday and will post them on here at that time. If they don't sell fast on here or other forums, I will put them on ebay where similar systems sold for $200-$500 more recently. I can provide you with my ebay screen name where you can see my 7800+ feedbacks and powerseller status. All of these prices do not include shipping and I would prefer to use paypal for the payment (with no extra charge to the buyer of course!) PM Me if interested Thanks for Looking, Travis
  7. Ignore my suggestion, after I posted it I looked at the pics again and I am guessing that a Mombo would only reach the top of the grandstand but not much higher. -Travis
  8. How heavy of a 6k are you using, are we talking an old full sized (double ended) arri fresnel or a newer SE par? Also how high is that blue box from the ground? If a Mombo combo would get it high enough you could put it on that, extend it as high as you can and then cable it off at the bottom and use a couple of chain vise grips to secure it to the grandstand. This may not be the best way but it may work out for you. -Travis
  9. I forgot to mention, both of my 5k's are 120v and I have several extra bulbs so I don't want to switch to 240v to get the amps down if possible.
  10. I am thinking about buying a Honda EU6500i generator and would want to use it to run my 2.5k HMIs or a 5k Arri. I know it will work fine for the 2.5k's but since it only has 2 30A circuits I am wondering how to power the 5K, my thought was to take and make an adaptor that goes from 2 male 30A twist lock plugs to 1 60A female bates, will this work? Thanks Travis
  11. Hey Guys, I am looking to buy a used Premier Studio Cameleon Hydraulic camera dolly with or without accessories. I have cash in hand so if anyone has one or knows someone who does, please PM me or email me at travis @ redstarpictures.com I am also looking to buy some electrical distro equipment. Mainly 100A bates, banded camlok cable and a 400A ish distro box (preferably 3 phase) and 1 or 2 generators (Honda 5KW and up or 200A-500A trailer mounted) Thanks, Travis
  12. Another very cheap suggestion for shiny boards is to go to Home Depot and in the insulation section you will find 1" thick x 4'x8' foam sheets with 1 blue side and 1 silver. Cut them in half and wrap the edges with gaffers tape to protect them. The whole thing should run you less than $25. Best of Luck with the project
