  1. Hello there, I'm using some of Bill Henson's still photographs (links found below) as a main reference in an upcoming music video that I'm DPing. My main point of interest in these photos is the moonlight blue/silver skin tones. From what I've heard, Henson used a combination of flash and long exposure to achieve this look but this obviously isn't an option with motion pictures. I will be using the Sony Ex1 and shooting at quite a high frame rate/shutter speed so I may need to use quite punchy lights. With this said, I am keen to capture the soft, moody tones present in the photos below. My main question is whether people think the subjects are lit with bare 5600K daylight lights or whether gels have been used. If anyone has any grading suggestions that could help achieve the desired look, that'd be great too. I'm thinking of using two 4-bank kino (daylight tubes) and possibly some china balls (daylight globes) to light the subjects. If I'm not able to get a decent level of exposure, I may look into using HMIs or gelled Blondies. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. The photos can be found below. 3. Hello there, Just wondering if anyone has any advice, feedback or general comments on the Brevis Lens Adapter. I have never seen nor heard of this model until today when a friend informed me of one offered for rental at quite a cheap rate. The adapter comes with a set of Nikkon stills lenses: 50mm, 28mm, 35-105mm (with macro), 135mm, 80-200mm, 500mm. I have worked on shoots where Nikkon lenses were used with a P+S Technik adapter and a RedRock adapter but once again, never with a Brevis Lens Adapter. The adapter and lenses would be used alongside a Sony EX1. Much of the project in question will be shot in low light so I am also unsure as to whether the Nikkons are suitable or not as I've heard that they're prone to abborations and other issues. The choice is either the Brevis and the Nikkons or not lenses at all (budget constraints...). It'd be great to hear whether people think it's worth using the adapter and lenses or whether it may just be better to go without. Thanks for your time. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Edward Goldner
  4. Thanks very much for your replies. In answer to your question Karl, I've been using them with 70mm. This post was mainly out of curiosity so I haven't thought about any specific camera which I'd want to attach them to. I'll find out the specific details about the lenses soon. Thanks again, I really appreciate the info. Ed
  5. Hello, Just wondering whether anyone could possibly help with with a query regarding the use of Mamiya stills lenses with an adapter. The lenses are fixed and are used with a Mamiya RB-67 (medium format camera). I don't have the kit on me at the moment and doubt that I'd opt to use stills lenses anyway but was just interested to find out whether or not they could be used with an adapter (P+S technik or redrock perhaps). If it's possible to use them, I'd be really keen to hear about the results. I'll try and find out the specific lens details tomorrow. Cheers, Edward Goldner
