  1. Hello community of cinematographers. I'm looking for feedback on a short film that several of us completed back in August -- the first that I directed. I was curious about the possibilities involved in making a film that would be shot vertically. Although we didn't push that to it's limits, because we are all beginners, I think there is a little bit of something here that some of you might find interesting. I was also curious about making this video available on cell phones because there aren't many movies made specifically for that medium (). Is it because we like large screens? And how would it be different to watch a film on a screen in public, on your daily ride on the subway, versus watching the film in a private dark-lit room? Any thoughts? I would appreciate any feedback; comments; critique; or advice very much! Here is the link to the project:
  2. I'm curious to see what any of you think about this video. I just completed it. I shot it with the Panasonic PV-GS500. Of course youtube kills the video quality. I'm uploading it onto another site and I may have a website for it eventually. Also, what do you think about the score? My friend is studying in North Carolina to score films. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJVCuuskL2Y
  3. I'm new to this forum so bear with me. I'm trying to set a path for myself to get into the film industry as a DOP. I would really appreciate any advice or stories. I am currently a freshman in college at Ball State University, which has a great program in telecommunications, but I can tell that I will not get what I need to be ready for the film industry. I have looked into film schools that I may transfer too. But I am also talking to my few contacts in LA about internships. I think that working any small job, just to see for my self how everything is really ran, would help me a ton. And I am always looking for ways to meet more filmmakers. Have any of you heard anything about the Colorado Film School and Columbia in Chicago? They sound good to me, but I haven't heard much about their programs from the students and professors. My basic question for all of you is this: should I really work on transferring to a film school, or use what I have at BSU and get everything else I need another way? Thanks! -Rick
