  1. hey guys, im a reaal novice still in highschool but i was wondering if some of you could critique a showreel iv put together. The cameras used were; Sony HDV - V1 and Z1 aswell as a few XDCAM - EX1 shots all on the TIFFEN STEADICAM PILOT. Sorry about the bad detail, im still getting the upload specs right... http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=mTVO_2hnNqc :) any comments would be greatly appreciated (about the showreel and the shots) Cheers, Bryce
  2. oh yeah, lighting in blade runner was awesome....i hate to look liek too much of a dumbass, but what are xenons?
  3. What is the best way to shoot with an extremely shallow field of depth with Z1 or V1's? or can it only be done with a 35mm adaptor lense? sorry if this question is waaay to simple.. Bryce
  4. thanks heaps for the replies, im currently studying film, specialising in cinematography and sound and cant get enough of it :P greatly appreciated, Bryce
  5. Is there any way id be able to shoot cinemascope (ie. 2.35:1) on the V1 instead of 16:9 or 4:3? or would i have to for eg. measure it out on the LCD screen and then add black bars in post? Cheers
  6. Just wondering how to achieve an shadow effect like this with lighting: (see below/attachments if theyv worked) Other examples of it, can be seen on the movie Alien and Aliens (its basically where beams/a beam of light is shooting past the subject/object and the subject/object has no light on them) Sorry if this is too simple, jsut curious to how its done :)
  7. thanks heaps, soz, bit new to this... the main look i wish to get in the horror is a focus on when the character is 'going insane' ie. like a dream sequence deep/defined shadows
  8. cheers, i think i slightly got confused in terms of colour grading wheni meant horror look. just wondering if theres any set settings for night shooting, or if its all personal preference (ie. with whitebalance, exposure, etc)

    Horror film?

hi, im a film student currently completing a cert 3 in broadcasting and television and an additional assignment is to produce a 8min max horror. camera gear at disposals HDV-V1, HDV-Z1, HDV-A1 and sony BRC (for crane cam). also school just bought a tiffen steadicam pilot. just wondering any reccomened/standard settings/gear for horror (ie. 25p progressive scan, 1080i, specific white balance or lighting to use). doesnt matter how large the video is, using adobe master suite for editing and a decent pc any suggestions for gear/settings/lighting would be awesome :)
