Great DP's are fun to work with. My favorite in the New York Area is Peter Franchella. He usually does Sports TV spots. Very laid back, incredibly creative, doesn't always remember you but is always nice to you.
Other DP's are fun to work with but not very creative. Best not to name them. I'm talking DP's that try to copy other DP's creative work but always fall short, mainly because they are not original and try to apply traditional rules to the creative stuff they are copying.
I also feel that if a DP is very creative then he/she should get a pass in terms of their attitude towards the crew. You don't tell Einstein how to do math, right? But if you are just another DP with 3-point lighting as your forte, its nice to be nice to the crew or else the word travels fast in the business.
