  1. That was my high estimate, I'm looking at around 15c a foot, but had to factor in shipping and handling as it's not a local joint. Placed locally to me are 24c a foot, which is painful. I'll check out the place you mentioned, that's a great rate. You happy with the results?
  2. Hello, I have a scoppic 16 and it's got a bad lens, but I can repair that I think. However I'd love to get a 2nd scoopic to shoot my movie with that can handle 200'+ reels. I have a lot of film in 200' and more that would be nice to not have to cut it all down. My budget is low, but let me know what you have if you have anything. I also would be interested in anything else that could take big reels (200'+) and run on battery. -- Michael
  3. A quick question, Is it doable, to shoot just regular 16mm stock on a camera that does magnetic sound recording? I'm assuming the perfs are the same, and if you don't have sound it's just ignored. But I haven't dealt with sound cameras before, so I don't know. ~Mike
  4. I'm keeping an eye on them as they come and go for sale. My shoot date is approaching so trying to find a solution soon. The main issue is that this film project is to be under $2000.00 so I have to find some quid-pro-quo way of getting a new camera in there. *If* I have to pick up a new camera I'm hoping to get one that can take at least 200' reels, which I have several of, instead of having to pay to cut all my reels down to 100'. (Could justify the cost of the camera a bit). The scratch is pretty terrible, but I'm shooting some footage now with it and will have it developed to see how bad it truly is.
  5. Hi Freya, Thanks for the advice and tips! I'm mailing off a batch of film today to get developed and see the status of the stock, also sending in some other stock for a snip test. I'll shoot some more on the camera with the scratch on it, but it looks pretty bad. It's about 1 inch long and 1/4 inch wide across the middle of the lens, so when I zoom and focus I can see it in the view finder at all different angles. I'll try that over-exposure trick, see how that comes out, that could be a big help. Yeah, the plan is minimal dialog, the plot / script doesn't demand too much from the characters, but I am bringing my audio rig to get backup audio / recorded voices after each shooting. Thanks again for the tips and encouraging words! -- Michael
  6. Hey there, As the latest rock in the road to me making my $2000.00 feature, I've not hit a roadblock to find out my camera lens on my Scoopic is completely a waste, the outer glass has been scratched beyond repair. So, I need to replace that piece of glass. Which I almost got my hands on in an eBay auction but got sniped. Anyway, long story short (long story available on my blog). If anyone has a scoopic lying around for parts, or just one gathering dust and would like to lend it to the cause of my film I'd be grateful! If you want to sell me one, I'll buy it if it's either a 200' cartridge or one that takes the 400' adapter. Please no ridiculous prices as well... Other equipment I could use is on my blog as well: http://www.noclassproductions.com/Projects.../dwop-blog.html Thanks in advance if anyone can help or point me in the right direction. -- Michael
  7. Yeah, the process is pretty much to see what I can do with $2,000.00 and blood sweat and tears. Of course there's tons of problems, I'm using broken equipment, film that's older than I am, shooting at a ridiculous ratio. But I'm not going for Hi-Art, the film is for lack of a better word a homage to 1950's grindhouse cinema. The final delivery of the film will be on a digital print which will be showcased in a small Theater with about 40 friends and family. The goal is to make something fun, under ridiculous circumstances; why?... well why not.
  8. Hi all, I'm currently in the process of trying to make a 16mm feature film for $2000.00, I have a blog that is going through my trials and tribulations. I thought it would be fun to document this process. As it seems that I hit nothing but pitfalls. The blog will also explain the whole $2,000.00 budget for the curious and disbelievers. Cheers! http://www.noclassproductions.com/Projects.../dwop-blog.html Also feel free to view my donation page, maybe you have a piece of equipment lying around you don't need, that we'd love to borrow. Ask questions post comments, I'll get back to 'em. --Michael
