  1. Some good ones, thanks! I originally thought about doing a case study but i think i would rather do something about the advancement of the art, possibly a merging of the first three of those suggestions. I don't want to have to force words out, id rather have more to say and compact it than try and squeeze enough out of one topic but i think the advancement of cinematography through digital technology, new techniques and changing audience preferences is probably an avenue i can happily take. I need to work on the specifics to see if i can find enough credible sources to continue on any ideas. Thanks for the great suggestions
  2. i have to write a 2000 word essay on cinematography for my degree portfolio and i am a bit lost with it. I have free reign to write about whatever aspect i like, could be a specific DP or a certain style, as long as it demonstrates my understanding of the art form. It does have to be an academic essay, research based but also about my understanding. Im just looking for ideas at the moment. I need something i can get 2000 words out of without babbling. Any ideas or any interesting articles or sources on absolutely anything to do with the art of cinematography will be much appreciated.
  3. i will drop the price for the whole package to £2400 or individually, the XH-A1 to £2000 and the SGpro to £475
  4. Hi, im selling my canon XH-A1 and SGpro rev3 setup. I bought the SGpro last january for £600 and the A1 last summer for £2400. They've both been used sparsely on a few projects since then. I am quite attached to this kit and its hard to have to sell it but my finances don't allow for me to keep it. Ideally i would like around £2600 but i am more than willing to accept offers. If you are at all interested, pm me, reply here or email me at ajrocks13@hotmail.com and i will be sure to reply as quickly as possible. I am based in the UK so the camera is PAL. Thanks, Adam Jones
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws6takt6stQ 29 seconds 1:32 and 1:42 in. closest example i can really find
  6. Hi, im in the process of devloping a short and i have a certain idea of the kind of images i would like to achieve but i don't know how to achieve them. I will be shooting with either a conon xh a1 with sgpro adaptor and FD lenses or the same but with a HVX. It's a rather ambiguous way to explain the image so if my attempt at a description is no good, ignore this thread but if you have any ideas, i would appreciate your input. Basically, i want an image with really harsh light, lens flare and all. A sort of warm diffused tone without looking like a bad sitcom dream sequence. I want warm, bright light but obviously not for the colours to be lost. Tell me if i am being too ambitious, but i figure its best to start with the best possible idea and work from there. i unfortunately cant think of any immediate examples from films. if you think of any that might apply, suggest them and that might help the situation a little cheers.
