  1. Brand name tapes are best to stick with. Use the company that gives you the best results with other cameras. I have found no difference with ProHD tapes and MiniDV. Cost is the only real issue. If there is going to be a drop out on the tape it will be less on a ProHD tape. But a drop out is a drop out and will ruin a shot regardless, and will show up on both ProHD and MiniDV tapes. So I shoot on Brand name MiniDV tapes knowing that the vision will be the same as ProHD for $30AUD less. Cheers Greg www.visionwrangler.com.au www.nanook.com.au
  2. I have a Kata camera cover for a JVC 251. I leave it off a hell of a lot. The viewfinder glove is silly and does not work. It fits, but the viewfinder slides and rotates which makes the glove bunch up. The clear window looks nice for the flip out electronic screen but gets in the way when opened. When in playback mode you need to access the VTR buttons and means that the glove is in the way. So I have it on about 40% of the time for simple shoots and off for heavy shoots. I hire the camera out and never have it on for those times even though it needs it being on hire. The Kata glove gets too much negative feed back from clients and that means no repeat customers for me. So no glove and happy clients and I take the risk off scratches and bumps. Hope this helps.
