  1. I've got a Vinten Vision 8 head that is leaking the grease from it. Have any of you or would any of you have an idea of what one could expect to have to pay to have the head serviced and cleaned up? Would it be worth attempting yourself? Have you had this same experience? I'm located in Boston, MA so if anyone has recommendations for someone who could service this Vision 8 that'd be great.
  2. Hey I have a video file I'm working with where on a piece of paper we have a green square that would be where a photo would go. This piece of paper is tossed down onto the desk where the video will be playing. The video will be a person calling to get the viewers attention and then the camera will do a push or a zoom into the paper to make the green keying full screen. What would be the best way to track the green section that will have a video playing in it.
  3. Our current plan is to use a bunch of shop lights (4' florescence) and color correct. We've got 7 of them sitting in my apartment plus he's getting 3 more before we shoot plus we're renting a genny. Although it'll probably be kinda loud so we're going to have to figure that out especially since it's a night shot right in front of a residential area.
  4. I absolutely loved Awake O'Sleeper he did a great job in both of the shorts. Hopefully he gets to work on more Whitestone projects, I saw that he was also involved in Final Destination surprised that they're still milking that franchise. But pretty awesome actor and hopefully he's in more!
  5. Personally I'm impressed by the work on this project and the other projects done by you guys. Judging from the other work I've seen on their site, I'm sure they understand what the roles are and the proper titles. However as was said if you're an independent film company you're not always going to have someone in every spot thus people do multiple roles. Brandon where are you guys located?
  6. Hey is the magician the same actor in Awake O'Sleeper?
  7. I do love the into of Studio 60 and yes that's the show with Matt. I guess the Pilot episode was right about what type of TV we watch to some extent heh. I personally thought it was excellent along with the other people I showed it to. Then again we're all going to school to get into the Film / TV Industry. I personally love the president of NBS's dislike of reality TV and look what happened to the show it got canned while other Reality TV style shows still go on.
  8. Does anyone have any good links to videos on YouTube or Vimeo of behind the scenes of film sets? Also anyone seen Studio 60? I just finished watching the first and only season. I'm curious as to why it got canceled good show. Anyone recommend other shows like that?
  9. I personally think the music choice just seems really out of place but that could just be me.
  10. Well that's what I was thinking would be the best solution however the person who's in charge of the shooting most probably won't agree. I'll try suggesting it to him later on today. Worse case though I'm trying to figure out a way that this could be lit without access to an AC power source.
  11. Hey, I'm working on a project for someone and they asked me to find a way to light a night scene thats going to take place in a parking lot of a building. We can't use a generator or power from the building thus we need to run it entirely from batteries. We need to light an unlit parking lot area where a car will be driving and parking so it's going to start with a wide shot thus everything will need to be lit and we will also be doing close ups. So we were thinking just doing it cheap and getting work lights of 500 watts - 1k but the issue we run into now is power. Does anyone have suggestions for power wether there's some type of DC lighting we could use instead of having to use a Inverter. Or if we're going to need to use a bunch of car batteries with a set of inverters?
  12. I personally liked all the shots although I'm a student too so can't give you much feed back. I saw the raw cut of your final project from someone else in your group a while back and thought it was great.
  13. Hey I'm picking up a few Motorola Business Radios the 2-Ways that are used inside of buildings, on construction sites, and what not. My question is what type of licenses would one need to use them I know you need a license from the FCC but since we're not using them on a specific location as they will be used from site to site for film shoots how much such a license would cost.
  14. Are you shutting down the High Way where you're shooting, if not I'm willing to bet you're out of luck for any type of filming unless it's inside your car with a small camera. I'm pretty sure here in the US it is illegal to ride in the back of trucks as it's a safety issue wether or not that's enforced in small local towns or not is another thing. On a highway however especially with other traffic is a big no-no.
  15. How long ago did your school go to HD? Just wondering on your first school to go all HD and wether or not that's even a good thing. My school has some of the best cameras any University / College has we have both HD, 16 MM, 35 MM, and MiniDV.
