  1. Product Description: The AG-HPX170 is an ultra-mobile P2 HD handheld camcorder featuring full, 4:2:2 independent frame production quality HD and solid-state recording. Based on the AG-HVX200 series, the lighter HPX170 is fully solid state (no DV mechanism), and comes with a host of enhancements including a new 1/3" progressive 3-CCD imager system, wider Leica Dicomar 13X lens, an HD-SDI interface, metadata input and management, and a 5-year limited warranty (with registration). The HPX170 has two P2 card slots and records in 20 HD and SD formats - from 1080i, 1080p, 720p to 480i. Its newly enhanced 1/3" progressive 16:9 3-CCD imager delivers an excellent signal-to-noise ratio, lower noise/smear, and exceptional low-light performance. High-end features like Dynamic Range Stretch (DRS) which allows for better control over highlights and shadows in run and gun situations. The digital signal processor with 14-bit A/D conversion and 19-bit processing assure high-quality recordings necessary for top-level production and broadcast. Because the HPX170 scans the initial image at a 1080p/60 and all camera processing happens at his level. Because of this images maintain the highest quality possible up to the final conversion for compression and recording. 2. Richard, you're a genius. Where can I get the paper work?
  3. Yeah, yeah Phil-- I knew you needed a work permit, just not how strict the regulations are on getting one.
  4. Hey Guys, Thanks for all the responses. I assumed that it was probably about the same as it is in the US, if not worse due to the smaller scale industry. Looking into it further, it seems like the hardest part would be getting a work permit. It seems as though the only way I could work there (in film or television) would be if I found some free-lance work that paid under the table and just went there as a vacationer. I'll keep working at it, though. Thanks again!
  5. I'm looking to possibly move to England for approx. 6 months and was curious as to what the film and television scene over there is like these days. Is it pretty difficult finding work? I have been doing G&E and a bit of camera assisting for about a year in the US and would ideally find more of the same but am not opposed to starting back at PAing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Just saw the movie and I loved it! Beautifully shot. The creativity of the cinematography matched that of the script. Great job, Eric. I look forward to seeing it again!
  7. What is the best way to wash a Harrison changing tent?
  8. No, I'm just looking to learn. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!
  9. Does anyone have any recommendations for articles or books to read to learn in detail about how labs work, how film is developed and processed, etc.? Thanks!
  10. I'm going to to be 1st ACing for the first time (professionally) on an episode of MTV Cribs with the HDX900. I've ACed on a lot of smaller shoots (student and independent, mostly film) but I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to what type of things I'll be responsible for other than focusing and managing the camera (i.e. logs, adjusting all of the settings in the camera, etc.) on a fast-paced HD shoot like this. Also, does anyone have any AC tips for the HDX900 or things to watch out for? I have worked a bit with other DVCPRO cameras but not the HDX900. I will be able to get my hands on the camera at least once before the shoot and I have the manual to study. Also, any tips for ACing on a very quick, on the fly type shoot like this? I really want to do my best to make a good impression so I appreciate any help. Thanks a lot, Joel

  12. Has anyone crewed on the show MTV Cribs?
