  1. Thats the problem really, the story could work on both mediums well. Film to me is a lot more romantic, it's the original cinema. But Red makes things a lot easier really, we can only afford 10 rolls of film, for a 10 minute film you see. I was hoping to get a couple of slow motion shots for the film.
  2. Hi guys, In February i'm shooting a short thriller on a beach. Right now i'm trying to decide whether I should shoot on the Arriflex SR3 or the Red camera. I'm trying to weigh up the pros and cons of both mediums. One factor i'm taking into account is that there will be a child actress, which may require a lot more takes. Also I'm shooting in Feb on a beach, and the weather might be unpredictable. But I do love film, and so I just don't know what will be more appreciated by the audience/film festivals. One more thing, does anyone know the cost difference of grading digital vs film? Thanks! Tom
  3. Hi guys, I'm shooting a film this November. I'm shooting on 16mm, i'm thinking of using 10 rolls of film (400ft). I'm hoping to use Fuji stock, one that has an ASA of around 150 - i'm not sure exactly of what they have to offer, i hear that have a new stock out that gives great vivid colours. i was wondering if anyone can give me an approx cost of how much the film would cost, i;m a student, so maybe i could get a discount. thanks, Tom p.s I know this is a very general question, i'm actually directing the film not shooting it, but i want to get an idea of the costs.
  4. Helloo, Basically i have entered a short advert into a competition, and i need lotsa views to help me win :). Could you spare 90 secs to watch it? You have to login into Uvizz with facebook or twitter login details (it's completely safe). Prize money is going towards my graduation film. Thanks guys! tom http://app.uvizz.com/ui/Videos/A8_1cc7804a...ce-00304833ebfb

  6. i thought that perhaps because i am using an adapter, i would lose some light. And also i am using 35mm SLR Lenses. I just wondered if this makes a difference at all? Cheers, Tom
  7. hello, I have just bought a pentax adapter for my Beaulieu 6008s camera. When the lens is mounted, by how much should i over-expose by? Cheers, Tom
  8. Well your camera reads: 25, 100 or 160 ASA (40, 160, 250 ASA tungsten) films, so therefore just keep the camera in automatic reading, you don't really need a lightmeter. Kodak made the vision2 200t film to be read by the cameras as 160asa, so that you automatically over-expose by one stop - which is a good thing when it comes to post. Why are you using 64t ektachrome, isn't that quite hard to get developed professionally? tom
  9. What are your thoughts on this camera, i haven't shot any film on it yet?
  10. Widescreen center in the Soho do it, and also TKone do it.
  11. Hello, I have recently purchased a Beaulieu 6008s, i was wondering if anyone knows much about this camera, and can tell me some key features it has, such as, are you able to adjust the shutter angle on the camera? Cheers, Tom
  12. Hi guys, I know this doesn't belong here, but since it's a super8 item, i think the interest for this item belongs in this forum. It's a Lens adapter for the nalcom flt 1000, it allows you to screw m42 lenses on the camera. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...s=tab%3DSelling tom

  15. Hello, I have a NALCOM FTL 1000 SLR lens adapter for sale. It allows you to use m42 screw lenses on a Nalcom camera. This adapter is not easy to get hold of. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...s=tab%3DSelling Tom
  16. Hi Chris, I was using only ambient light, i had an external light meter with me, which told to set the aperture at around 2, but i kept it at 1.8, so yes i was shooting wild open. It was difficult shooting in such low light. But the film i was shooing was in a 'dogme' stlye, so no external lights are allowed. I asked the people in soho film labs to push the footage up a stop during the telecine. Tom
  17. Here we are folks. I'd like to hear your thoughts. http://www.vimeo.com/4565732 Cheers, Tom
  18. Hi guys, After bombarding this forum with questions, i finally shot my film. I used a Braun Nizo s560 camera, and i used kodak 200t film stock. I'd like to hear your thoughts! http://www.vimeo.com/4565732 Cheers, Tom
  19. Great, thanks a lot !
  20. Great, yeah, how do you phrase it exactly? I'm going to add the 1970's kodak logo at the end.
  21. Does anyone credit Kodak or the fact they shot their film on super 8 here?

    Shutter angle?

Hello, I hear a lot about shutter angle on this forum, and how it's used to create effects etc. How can it be modified? I have a Nizo s560, and there is no dial to change it. How do i use it to my advantage? Cheers, Tom
  23. If anyone is interested, i went in and asked them yesterday. It costs 45 pounnds for a professional telecine - they run the film through the same machine they use for the 16mm and 35mm. The film is chemically cleaned, and they can give it back to you on whatever medium - i chose digibeta. Just processing costs 25, and they do not do a HD transfer. Strangely i saw Christian Bale walk about when i walked in, i gave him a little nod ;) .
  24. I'm using an ASA of 200, the camera won't be able to read it. I took a light meter down to the tube, and the average stop reading is at 2. So i'm going to have to keep it quite open a lot of the time.
