Before moving out to Los Angeles, I was a projectionist at a small sole proprietor type cinema in the Midwest, six screens, the type of theater that you would think would be the among the last ones the studios would get to. I can tell you for a fact that my employer was told by the studios that if he didn't acquiesce to installing all digital projectors by 2013 they would stop sending him film prints. Now maybe they were just trying to scare him, but that's what they said.

Yeah, I definitely agree. My interest is less of a hired job and more of a personal project, and I'm just trying to run through my options as far as cheap glass that will still give me a relatively nice image.

I just purchased what I hope is an operational Arriflex SR II body on eBay for $1250 and am now considering my different lens options. I know that renting would give me access to the best, but assuming that my interest is in purchasing either a few primes or a zoom, are there any options where I could spend south of $1000 and still obtain a reasonable high quality image? Thanks
