  4. Within the 10 years of organizing the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Plus Camerimage in Łódź we have managed to achieve a lot. Regretfully the recent events in that city proved, that despite all our efforts we did not win a lasting support of the local authorities. They resigned from building the New Festival and Congress Center designed by Frank Gehry and blocked the future development of the Festival. Therefore, in March this year, we informed you that, taking into consideration the future and the independence of Plus Camerimage we have decided to move the Festival out of Łódź. Since then we have been looking for a place where we could held the next edition of Plus Camerimage Film Festival. We have analyzed a dozen or so venues that could serve as a Festival Center. The venue that meets our expectations and the requirements of the Festival best is Opera Nova in the City of Bydgoszcz [bid-goshch]. It is a modern facility picturesquely situated at the bank of Brda river in the city center. Opera Nova, with its two stages (grand and small), two auditoria, skillful technical and administration staff, constitutes a suitable infrastructure for creative endeavors. The building also includes a Congress Center of Opera Nova destined for the organization of conferences, symposia and conventions. The whole facility together with the nearby Multikino (cineplex) and high standard hotels will allow us to gather all the festival events in one place. What is very important for us is the great support from the Authorities of the City of Bydgoszcz, and the advanced plans for the city’s development aimed at a cultural infrastructure, including Congress Center with 2000 - 2500 seats. We are convinced that the building of Opera Nova, the thriving cultural milieu of the city and the support from the city’s authorities will allow us to bring to you the Plus Camerimage 2010 at a high standard of both the program and organization. We invite you to the City of Bydgoszcz. We are coming back to the Kujawsko – Pomorskie Region where the history of the Festival began. Bydgoszcz is only 40 kilometers away from Toruń, the city where the Festival was born and was held for first 7 years. We invite you cordially to the 18th edition of the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Plus Camerimage 2010. Come and be with us! Sincerely Marek Żydowicz Plus Camerimage Director
  5. Plus Camerimage Special Award to the Polish Cinematographer for Immense Contribution to the Art of Film goes to Dariusz Wolski. Dariusz Wolski, ASC, (born 1956 in Warsaw) is a Polish cinematographer who is greatly respected abroad. He undoubtedly rose to fame thanks to the American super-production Pirates of the Caribbean, for which he was the cinematographer and Gore Verbinski the director. It was a great critical success receiving various prizes but also a box-office hit with an army of fans. The unique, gloomy atmosphere of the camerawork, which had first been fully used in the film adaptation of the comic book The Crow (dir. Alez Proyas), became Wolski's hallmark. His talent was recognised by Tim Burton, one of the most original contemporary directors. After their successful collaboration on Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street he hired Wolski for his next film project – Alice in Wonderland (2010). Selected filmography: # Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, 2007, dir. Tim Burton # Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, 2007, dir. Gore Verbinski # Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, 2006, dir. Gore Verbinski # Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, 2003, dir. Gore Verbinski # Bad Company, 2002, dir. Joel Schumacher # The Mexican, 2001, dir. Gore Verbinski # A Perfect Murder, 1998, dir. Andrew Davis # Dark City, 1998, dir. Alex Proyas # The Fan, 1996, dir. Tony Scott # Crimson Tide, 1995, dir. Tony Scott # The Crow, 1994, dir. Alex Proyas # Romeo Is Bleeding, 1993, dir. Peter Medak more at http://www.pluscamerimage.pl/index.php?lan...b39a62ee4f44dcf
