  1. EDIT: It looks like you've gotten a lot of the lighting issues figured out since this posed based on your vlogs that I just watched. Learning a lot myself.
  2. I came across this post, and the one in 2009 while doing some very brief research for my own dry-for-wet project. Check out these two threads on models from The Abyss and Red October, they both have posts in it from people who worked on both films. http://www.therpf.com/f10/abyss-models-709/ http://www.therpf.com/f11/i-present-you-ballistic-missile-submarine-red-october-20371/index2.html I would check out both CineFex articles as well.
  3. I'm thinking of trying a few more tests with this, not practical, but interesting to see how it works.
  4. Shot some overcranked footage of the Texas stadium demolition for a new web series I'm doing. Shoot Smash Boom is a web series where various items are destroyed...and filmed with high speed cameras. This first episode features the Dallas Cowboys stadium demolition. Think of Shoot Smash Boom as Mythbusters, but without the science, in a web series format, and with more destruction and slow motion. I wish the slow motion parts were more exciting. Sadly, it didn't look as grand as the demolition of a taller building would have looked.
  5. This is a promo video for a company based near Dallas, TX. They do disaster data recovery and backup. I used the Casio EX-F1 for the 600fps footage, a DoP had his RED 4K shooting at 120fps, and I had a consumer Canon camera for the close up shots near the server as it's getting hit. It was a very exciting project to work on.
  6. Michael Bay Mythbusters Action Movies They all include wanton destruction. ;-) There is a point to what is going on, which will be explained on the Friday release. LOL! That's funny!
  7. I think this is the right category...sorry if it isn't. This is a teaser for a video that will be released this Friday. It involves guns, computers, and explosions, i.e. awesome cool stuff. :-P The video was shot on the RED, Sony EX1, Casio EX-F1, and a consumer Canon HD camcorder. The filming went well. Didn't get everything we wanted, but it all ended up working out in the end.
  8. I've uploaded another video, this time shot at 600fps and featuring my shotgun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o6RXKEokFU
  9. Today I received a Casio EX-F1 for an upcoming project. The reason for getting the camera is for the high speed video it can shoot. For those of you not familiar with the camera, it shoots at 60, 300, 600, & 1,200 FPS. Unfortunately it's at very low resolutions, but for the price, you can't beat that (next up from this is the Phantom Miro at 10k). I've discovered that at 300fps with a lot of lighting and low ISO, your footage will look pretty good. Even when upscaled to 1280x720, it still looks good. After I finish the upcoming project, I want to do an in-depth video review on the high speed aspect of this camera. Sadly, there isn't much out there on that part of the camera, and I want others to be able to decide if this would help them for anything or not.
