This camera is a professionally converted hybrid of a BL1, 2, and 3. Please don't let this scare you. Please let this intrigue you. This 35BL1 was professionally converted by Axel Broda (legendary Arriflex camera technician) to use 2 pull down claws (BL2 movement) instead of 4 (BL1). The reason for this was to make the camera quieter (you still need the blimp for small or reflective spaces). Also, the viewfinder optics (top handle, viewfinder, videotap) were changed to a BL3's mostly for better video tap optics (now takes the standard video "elbow" i.e. Jurgens, Denz, etc. used on a BL4). The camera shoots full aperture (edge to edge), and has rock solid registration, making it a great 35mm sync-sound camera for shooting visual effects. Lots of room to adjust the frame in transfer or for motion tracking. The movement is of course 4-perf. It's relatively "light-weight" (compared to the BL4) so it also makes a good 35mm sync-sound Steadicam camera. Never rented or abused, it was last serviced by Axel in 2008 and is in great mechanical and optical condition (runs great). The focal flange distance, electronics, motor, movement, mirror-shutter, etc all work great. Ready to run out of the case. The only issue with the camera is the footage counter, which takes several pushes to reset to zero, but functions fine once it is set back to zero. This does not affect operation of the camera or footage counter. It just takes about 30 seconds longer than it should to reset when loading a new magazine. This camera can be run at several different frame rates up to at least 50fps, but I do not have the necessary cables to do so, so as is, it will currently run at 24fps crystal sync (standard sound speed). The lens mount is an Arri "B" which takes both Arri Standard Mount lenses as well as Bayonet Mount lenses. This is the standard lens mount for all BL1, BL2, and 2C cameras. You could also convert it to a PL mount if you prefer. The lenses included are all Arri Standard Mount. It has the standard 180 degree mirror shutter (which is NOT adjustable), dual registration pins (extremely steady camera), and a 1.85 academy ground glass (but covers the film edge to edge as mentioned). You can purchase additional ground glass from Shurco Tool Company for 1.78 or 2.35 if you prefer. You could also shoot Super 35mm with this camera (in either 2.35 or 1.85) but keep in mind the mount is still set for academy so if you like to zoom, the move will be off center. Either way, you are always capturing all of the area of the negative even if only to adjust during transfer. Due to "less than friendly" buyers in the past, I can not accept ANY returns, but if you are near Los Angeles, I am more than willing to show the camera in person at my studio (I encourage it). Bring some film if you like and you can shoot a short test. If you want a registration test, please have a way of backwinding the film (or by hand in changing tent) as these cameras don't run in reverse. But please do all of this before you bid. If you are paying cash, I can meet you at an agreed upon technician's office (you'll have to pay for his time, which makes sure he's on your side anyhow) and you can pay/take delivery after you're satisfied, but please keep the inspection to under three hours, and it must be a well-known Arriflex camera technician in the Los Angeles area (I can give you a list). I know the camera works great, but if I accept returns, I am subject to those who would abuse the camera and my trust AFTER they've received it. Looking to changes lens mounts on several lenses (Arri Standard, B, OCT-19) changing all to PL.
