  2. My first TVC gig, shot in Cannon C300 with carl zeiss cp2 lens. Your utmost feedback and critics is very much appreciated. http://youtu.be/P6JG44-GCU8
  3. As picture below, I'm shooting a horror film and this location will be my biggest scene. What kind of lighting scene or anything would you give your advice on.. I'm going to spray water on the floor and maybe add abit of smoke to create somewhat 'silent hill' kind of art treatment. But for lighting ways, i'm still clueless. Any suggestion or advice would deeply appreciate
  4. So basically open frames is about having one subject in one shots that leads to the next shots?
  5. As quoted from the book "Closed frames refer to shots that do not acknowledge or require the existence of off-screen space to convey their narrative meaning, since all the information necessary for this purpose is contained within the edges of the frame. Open frames do not contain all the necessary information to understand their narrative meaning, and therefore require and draw attention to the existence of elements off-screen. Many compositional techniques are designed to imply the existence of off-screen space, since it acknowledges that the frame does not contain the entire world of the story, but instead acts like a window through which a larger world exists. However, there are benefits to using both of these types of frames depending on the needs of your story. Off-screen space is also exploited to create tension and suspense, particularly in the thriller and horror genres. In the two examples on the previous page, from Uli Edel’s The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008), a closed frame (top) is used to emphasize the isolation Ulrike (Martina Gedeck), a member of a German terrorist organization, feels while serving time in jail. The open frame used in the second example adds tension to a shoot-out between Petra (Alexandra Maria Lara), another member of the organization, and the German police trying to apprehend her after she broke through a roadblock"
  6. I'm current a student. I was reading a book "The filmmaker's eye - Gustavo Mercado" and i don't understand about closed and open frames. So how do i apply them to my shots?
  7. Thanks for the advice guys. But how do you what's the reason behind the shots? As in why is it shot in this way?
  8. Thanks for the advice guys. But may i know does a good director of photography have to be good in photography as in good with angle shot and composition.? As i have a problem with me, if you were to give a DSLR camera to shoot, i can't picture anything at all and my angle composition really sucks . But as for video camera, i able to picture alot of angle shots.
  9. Any advice on how can i improve my camera shots. Sometimes each time when i read the script, it seems like i can't visualize any shots.
  10. I tried to do what you told me to do. But it seems like the lens didn't show something like 5 meter and stuff. It only show like "MF 96.3" and if you turn the focus ring it the number of the MF would either go up or go down. And some goes to the lens. As the camera lens it's a zoom lens. But i'm not really sure what the stats of the lens. but i'm pretty sure its a build in lens.
  11. I'm quite confused. Okay, take example if i take out the measuring tape and measure the the subject from the camera and it's 5 meter away. What do i have to do next?
  12. I'm shooting my school project ( Short film ) and i using Panasonic AG-HVX200 DVCPRO HD P2 Camcorder to shoot for my project. Any advice on which should i know about this camera?

  14. But how to do your calculate them? Pardon me for being such a bother.
  15. Oh, now i get it. Thanks for the advice. But how to do i measure focus distance? oh, okay. Thanks for the tips.
