  2. Hi, I'm interrested in Super Baltar and Baltar lenses. I know that the Super Baltars werde made for the mirror reflex cameras (shorter flange distance), but what's the difference in 'look' and image quality between them and the older, the normal Baltar lenses ? Are the Super Baltars 'better' or nicer or why are they mostly more expensive than the normal Baltars ? Michael

  5. Hello, are there any adapters to use a Canon Fd lens with any 35mm filmcameras like BNCR or Pl mount ? Is it possible to use such a FD lens with BNCR or PL ? I think there's a big problem with the short flange distance of only 42 of the canon fd lenses . . . Micha
  6. Hello, how is the look of Nikon manual focus prime lenses (like Nikkor 1,4 50mm) compared to cine lenses like zeiss super speed ? Is think the nikkors look a little bit more soft and cool, don't they ?
  7. Hi, I just want to ask, what's so special about Astro Berlin lenses, like for example the Gauss-Tachar lenses. Is there any especialness (look, quality etc) ? Or are they so expensive, because they are very rare ? Michael
  8. And which lenses ? I Think the most expensive lenses were the Zeiss and Cookes, the cheapest the Rodenstocks. But Rodenstock only made 3 for Arri, the 16mm, the 25mm and the 50.
  9. Hello, I want to ask which 16mm camera was the most expensive and 'high end' in the 1960s. Someone told me, the Arriflex 16 ST and 16 SR was the Standard in Quality at this time and already the most used camera (especially in europe) . But the Mitchell cameras like the DSR-16 and the SSR-16 would have been more expensive than the Arriflex and a little bit better in image quality, too. Is that true ?

  11. Hi ! What do you like better: C-Mount Cine Nikkor - Lenses or Ker Switar lenses. I'm not sure what's better: The newer Switars (Preset) or the Cine-Nikkors. Michael

  14. Hi ! I've got often heared, that the Switars would be the 'most with newer lenses compareable old lenses' for 16mm and Super 16. (like perhaps Zeiss HighSpeeds from the late 70s) What do you think ? Is the quality of the Switars really compareable and combinable with newer or even modern lenses ? Thanks Micha
  15. Hi, does anybody know what's the difference between a Switar preset multicoated (black, last series) and a normal Switar preset (silber housing) ? Is there any difference in quality, sharpness or 'look', or is it only in contrast and colors ? Thanks, Michael
  16. Hello, does anybody know whats the difference of glass between Canon K35 and old Canon FD lenses like the S.S.C. Aspherical (1,2/ 55mm) for example or the newer FD 'L' lenses ? Which types are most similar to K35 ? Which lense is sharper, a Kowa Cine Prominar or a Canon K35 ? Michael
  17. Hi ! I started a try to compare a baltar 30mm (BNC) with a super baltar 35mm (BNCR). The result: The Super Baltar ceates the impression of being warmer, softer (organic), but a little bit sharper (more fine details) than the baltar. The Baltar has a more dramatic, darker and cooler feel; a little bit more 'dirty' and less sharp than the Super Baltar, but it looks more modern than the Super Baltar (for me). Is this result only at this isolated case or do you have made similar experiences ? Michael
  18. Hi, I have got a nice lens with BNC-mount. I would like to use it on other cameras, but not on an BNC camera. Which possibilities do I have ? Are there any adaptors to use BNC lenses on other cameras ? Micha
  19. I want to generate a look which is very similar to this in a own film. (on Super 16) What would you recommend me to do to get this kind of organic, soft and a little bit strange look ? What would you do ?
  20. Sometimes you find a Arri IIb or IIc, which is converted to BNCR - mount. What was the main reason this camera are converted to BNCR- mount ? I think this cameras should work with older Baltars too, don't they ? Thanks Micha
  21. Is the glass similar to the older baltars or is it newer glass ? I ask this, because I want to know, if the look of this lenses is similar or if it's different; I mean, the look of the older baltars would be a little more 'dirty' and dramatic . . . What do you mean ? Micha
  22. Hi! Yes, but If I use them with a Bolex Super 16 Camera or similar, I think I can use both: A super Baltar 20mm an a Baltar 75mm too. The FFD is very small on a Bolex Reflex, because there is no mirror, of course . . . Aren't there any Baltar lenses, which would work with a Arri 16 mm ? Why you can find sometimes old lenses like Baltar 75 or 50 with a BNCR mount, if they all won't work with a reflex cam . . . Michael

  24. Hi ! I'm interrested in the look of 'Carrie (1976)'. Does anybody know which lenses were used in Carrie ? I think it was a Mitchell Camera, which was used, wasn't it ? Did they use Super Baltar or Kowa lenses ? Which film stock was used ? Michael
