  1. You almost certainly don't want to do that... From what I remember of my old K3, the spinning mirror would keep you from getting that C-mount lens close enough to the film plane.

yea I knew something like this would come up, I was hoping there would be enouhg room to recess the c mount lens thread back as far as they would need to go, considering c mount lenses are generally quite small phyisically to begin with. Oh well, at least I was thinking outside of the box :)

  2. Krasnogorsk-3 camea with M42 screw mount have flange focal distance 45.5 mm.

C-mount lenses have flange focal distance 17,53 mm.

Can you setup of lens with short flage focal distance ( FFD ) to camera with long FFD ?

As for me, thi is do not possible.

If you wish use of C-mount lenses, you need 16 mm cine cameras with do not reflex system, like Admira-16, or with pendulum mirror, like Eclair ACL, Kiev-16E, or with semi-transparet mirror, like Alpha-16.

I think, you mean of M42 to C-mount adapter. This is adapter use for install of M42 screw mount lenses on C-mount cameras, like Alpha-16.

If you ask about compatible of this adapter with Meteor-5 zoom lens of K-3 camera, sorry, not.

Meteor-5 zoom lens have cone at rear side of lens and touch of inisde surface of adapter.

yes, I was thinking there could be made an adapter which recesses the neccesary 28mm, since many of the c mount lenses are so phyisically small and narrow, I thought maybe there would be enough room in there to make it work :)

I guess there is no point in trying to create this experiment!

  3. Yes it will work. I am assuming you will be using 35mm lenses on it, since 16mm M42 lenses are quite rare these days. The only difference is that the field of view of your lens will be half as wide as in 35mm mode. So if your 35mm lens is a 50mm one, your 16mm FOV will be roughly 100mm.

Hi Saul, thanks for your reply but I don't think you understood my question. The Krasnogorsk is an m42 mount as factory, and I would like to use an m42 to c mount adapter, meaning that I would like to in the end be using c mount lenses on the K-3. Do you think that would work without any issues such as vignetting etc ?

  4. Wonderful shot !! You created the suspense pretty well. I was really scared while watching it..

    all aspects amazing!

    perfect! bravo!

I really love it, and I am quite a critical person... this had my attention the whole way through

  5. Hi,

I have recently acquired a super 8mm Chinon Pacific SMR 12 camera, and am having problems powering it up. I've put fresh batteries within the battery compartment, and have switched the camera to the on position (there are two switches for some reason, so I switched them both on). Still, whenever I pull the trigger, I hear no motor or see no 'on light'. Could it be that I need a cart of film already inside for the camera to work? Any feedback that could help me out would be greatly appreciated!

if the basics seem to be covered id say its unlikely the camera is dead - but its possible... heres somewhat of a longshot but it could totally be this:

if the camera has a dissolve loop function (where it rewinds the film a bit to let you do cross dissolve types shots) it might have been activated then put back into position a, you'll have to put it back into position b and press the trigger - youll hear the cam run backwards for a few seconds and then everything will be back to normal and operational. just be careful with that rewind dissolve switch.

  6. What is the best way to to achieve a deeply black and white image... with a narrow gray scale? Should I use a filter? Or would a lighting setup be the best way? What would be a good exposure for indoors on Tri-x?

Thanks for the help-- first time user.

you can cross process your tri-x, if thats not a problem for you, really brings up contrast from my experience..
