  1. Hi, everybody! Just got test footage back from my Argus/Cosina 706 (Cosina 60 P, I think). It is underexposed and I think it's reading asa 100 as asa 160. What ND filter should I use to cure this problem? I know I can go to manual exposure to fix things, but it would be nice to continue to use the auto exposure. Thanks!
  2. A friend of mine, Scott Rhodes, a TV and film stuntman for many years, has been temporarily sidelined with a stroke, but he's not letting that get him down. He's written a wonderful Eurospy/costumed hero spoof entitled "Super7even Vs. Dr. Diabolical". We're going to shoot the trailer for it on Super 8. The movie itself will be shot on HD to keep costs down (unless we get an investor who loves film, then it's on to Super 16!), but the trailer will be shot with a Nikon 8X Superzoom, with an Argus/Cosina 706 as our "B" camera. Check out our crowd-funding site at Super7even Trailer Our goal for the trailer is only $500, which will allow us to buy a discount film/processing package at Spectra Film here in Los Angeles. Even if you can't donate any money (and believe me I understand that), check out the site, and our Official Website at Super7even Website Tell all your friends, fans of film, fans of 60's action films, anyone who loves Super 8! The more people who know about Super7even, the greater the chance of getting this project funded and on its feet!
  3. That makes sense, and it seems to work. Now, for some test footage! I'll keep you posted!
  4. I just picked up a Sankyo XL-400s camera and I'm asking a neophyte question. How do I set the eyepiece? I mean, I know what to turn and all, but what am I going for? It's a split-image focusing screen; am I going for a solid line, two perfect half circles? Please help this unknowing one. J
  5. I shot a test role of 100D and had it processed at Spectra. They're great guys, took their time with me, gave my camera a meter test, and the footage came out great! I lucked out with my Nikon; very sharp lens, of course, and only $10! Yay, eBay!
  6. I'm in LA and Spectra is only a few minutes from me! I'll give them a shot! Thanks!
  7. I am the proud (new) owner of a Nikon 8X Super Zoom that I got off eBay for $10! And it works! I'm looking for recommendations for places to buy/process film.
  8. I am new to Super8 film making, so please forgive what may sound like naive questions. How do you do your transfer? It makes perfect sense just to frame as if you were in 16:9, but could you guide me through the next steps. Also, if you have your film processed and transferred to, say, mini dv or a hard drive, what does one tell the transfer people? Thanks for your time. J
